Heck, this just helps Trump further - if they never get to him, or even get to someone close to him, on something truly related to Russian collusion, then the masses who voted for him the first time will be even more in his corner this time around, seeing this as a long drawn out investigation, with its roots beginning even before Trump took office, and never really amounting to anything they were to be investigating for in the first place. This not being over, or even close to over, does not help the anti-Trumps at all. We're 2-3 years since the supposed Russian collusion was happening - let's start hearing about the evidence about that.

How long did Ken Starr investigate? Certainly payback has to be on the minds of the donks.

I've never said this will lead to a conviction of Trump.

DOJ policy is that a sitting president can't be indicted. Mueller/Rosenstein aren't going to go against that (despite the portrait Trump paints of them on his Twitter feed). They're by-the-book guys. Trump could be impeached if Democrats take the House - but, he'll never be convicted by the Senate.

Trump is implicated in the hush money payments Cohen made on behalf of Trump if he knew about them. And, you know as well as I do he probably did. Just what evidence there is - Cohen tapes, documents, testimony.

As to Russia - we'll see. There were a whole host of unindicted Americans in the indictment of the Russian GRU agents. Roger Stone is who is probably puckering his butthole the tightest. There are many threads to tug on. Long way to go.

None, but I'm a far-left liberal so my views aren't typical of the average Dem; I'm not the type of voter the GOP should try to woo. But more moderate ones could have easily voted for Kasich or Bush.

It is tax evasion, not collusion he was convicted of. Let me put it this way, I would be more shocked if somebody wasn't found guilty of tax evasion in DC and Congress then if they were. I expect most of Congress and any people in an administration to be somewhat crooked, it is politics after all. Honest people don't tend to survive in that climate very long, much less get elected. Just small a bunch of small potatoes that were easily dug up.

FEC rules are different from federal campaign finance law.

For one you get indicted on federal charges by DOJ. For the other you get fined by the FEC. Slight difference.

Trump's campaign broke FEC rules, was fined $1.3 million and moved on like nothing happened.

Question:
At what point can Trump get nailed for breaking the campaign finance laws with regard to Stormy Daniels? This seems like and easy "if - then" scenario but not sure if it is from a legal standpoint. Wouldn't it be hard to prove that it was to protect the "campaign"? Couldn't Trump just say it was to protect his marriage? Or to protect someone else, like a person who set up the encounter? Unless they have Trump on tape saying it was to protect the campaign, it seems like he could wiggle out of this.
