I think after tonight, regardless of wins, they don't have a mandate. A few weeks ago I could see Clinton breaking 300. If she wins, I think the margin will be very slim.

Nevada isn't going Republican...Ibanez wrote:Wow...6 votes.
Polls may show Trump currently in the lead there...
But, Clinton won the early voting pretty handily and ~70% of Nevadans vote early. Trump would need a YUGE lead on election day to make up the difference.
I wouldn't count on it.

All the headlines had hilldog wining Nevada. Could have just been noise to try and drown out turnout. Considering Nevada depends largely on its tourism/hospitality industry, you know there are a lot of low information Brown voters that would vote hilldog. Personally I think she takes Nevada, and cruises in Penn and Va.93henfan wrote:You nervous? The graphic shows your girl winning.Skjellyfetti wrote:

I haven't seen much talk about CO but last week it was basically a dead heat there. Trump could have easily taken CO if he can out with a hard pro weed stance. I think that could have split the millennial vote there and got him that state.

This is FCS vs. FBS. The outcome can be anywhere from a slim FCS win to a blowout FBS win.Ibanez wrote:I think after tonight, regardless of wins, they don't have a mandate. A few weeks ago I could see Clinton breaking 300. If she wins, I think the margin will be very slim.

2% (3.3%, according the RCP the last time I looked) is pretty damn slim. There's no mandate there. Plenty of room for the margin of error to favor someone else (See NH.)93henfan wrote:

The funny thing is I clicked on the link after I posted and the vote tally of 32-25 was listed in the headline.93henfan wrote:Dear Lord. Trump-haters, learn to take a joke.SDHornet wrote: Of what, 27 votes that were cast in a state with a population of 100?

Voting was quick and easy this morning. No line. In and out in about three minutes. Flash license, sign next to your name in the registrar's binder, vote in the booth, get your "I Voted" sticker and back to your car.
Just one State Trooper on the scene to make sure nobody kept the darkies from voting.
The real scene was at breakfast. Every eatery in town was mobbed. Lots of anti-Hillary talk all around. People just hate the woman.

I agree, it'll be closer than people would've liked. A landslide for Clinton would be something in the 340's and she's going to end up being fortunate if she just breaks 300 electoral votes. And the Senate's going to stay Republican and there was never a chance that the House wasn't going to stay Republican as well. And the GOP may even win another governor's mansion tonight as well. Certainly a very split election result and no real change in the status quo in Washington.Ibanez wrote:I think after tonight, regardless of wins, they don't have a mandate. The only thing that could change is if Hillary does what Obama chose not to do when he stepped into the office - start off right away trying to find a way to work with and compromise with the Republicans. Not all of them are Ted Cruz wackos - I'm sure there's a few here and there she can talk to and start working with. If we want real change in Washington, that's the best place to start. Like I said, nothing is really changing in Washington in terms of the balance of power so if change is going to happen it needs to happen by other means.

Re: Election 2016: Trump vs Clinton
My voting was easy too - kids were off today so I had to drive them to their aunt's house for the day. Voted around 8:15, no line (I was voter #268 so an hour and so into the election that was a pretty big number for my polling place). Took a picture of the kids in the booth and away we went. Very easy.
I do have to say, I think I am pretty fortunate that I have an easy polling place. Never a line more than 10 people at any point in the day (although I'm sure there had to be a line at 7AM when it opened). I keep thinking all these people that need to stay in line for 1-2 hours need to be more vocal in the 4 years in between elections and move for more polling places, more machines, or other means of voting. People don't speak up enough when it could make a difference.

I forget, do you guys even vote in person or is that a state that's all vote by mail?kalm wrote:No voting lines whatsoever in the People's Republic of Washington.93henfan wrote:Voting was quick and easy this morning. Oregon and Washington are 100% by mail. Fill out your ballot while watching football and drinking a beer. No ID required. It's a beautiful thing.GannonFan wrote:I forget, do you guys even vote in person or is that a state that's all vote by mail?kalm wrote:

I'm in favor of all paper ballots.
Especially after seeing this: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2138902/c ... mory-card/
When I voted in Virginia, my polling place had paper ballots and it's a lot more confidence inspiring than the machines that Delaware uses. You just press a pressure pad for each candidate and then the big green VOTE button at the bottom when you're done. I wish it gave me a receipt or something.

I still like going to the polling place. Only voted absentee ballot once in my life, my first election actually in '92. Still cooler being at the polling place. I'm not sure I'd trust the whole nation to go 100% by mail. I mean, you folks in the PNW are trustworthy and all, but you're pretty weird that way compared to the rest of the nation.kalm wrote:Oregon and Washington are 100% by mail. Yeah, I wish they had a receipt too - ours are the same machines you're talking about. Heck, two receipts would be good and then the second could go to some enterprising college prof to do a side by side vote comparison after the fact to verify the published results. I think we don't know a lot about whether mishandling/cheating/hacking of the votes happens because we basically never check. It's easy to say there's no evidence of fraud when we never really look hard enough at it or even have a way to check.93henfan wrote:I'm in favor of all paper ballots.
