Are you arguing with me or the other guy? I don't disagree with you at all, the only thing that ends after tomorrow is the current election cycle. Both parties hate the candidate from the other party, which is fine, because they hate each other anyway and are convinced the other side is morally evil. None of that changes regardless of who is elected tomorrow (and Clinton is being elected tomorrow).Ivytalk wrote:Oh, stop it. Now if we could only get the two parties to start talking to each other again we could possibly start growing as a nation. However, I haven't seen a willingness from either side in about the past 12 years to think we're going to turn a corner in that regard anytime soon.
And if Trump wins narrowly tomorrow, there will be narrow adjustments of both parties at the margins, but they'll hate each other as much as ever.
And there still won't be a centrist third party.

Are Skjelly and DBJ and the other faggots being dramatically absent so they can pop out of the jack-in-the-box float in buttless chaps and buttplugs when CNN declares Hillary the winner? You know they're scheming up something really flamboyant for us to be this quiet.

Who will be in jail first, Trump or H-Rod? Assuming H-Rod is elected, Trump probably gets it first, as H-Rod will have more cover-up power.

Re: Election 2016: Trump vs Clinton
I don't think Trump gets jailed, as thanks for helping Hillary win. Hell, Hillary won't get jailed either. She might have to resign if her crimes catch up to her, but that'll be it. Then Kaine pardons her.Gil Dobie wrote:Who will be in jail first, Trump or H-Rod? Assuming H-Rod is elected, Trump probably gets it first, as H-Rod will have more cover-up power.

I disagree. Democracy is a merger of many philosophical ideas, whether they're grounded in facts or fiction, or education or ignorance. Neither are going to jail, but what exactly would be the charges on Trump? The rape case that's been thrown out of court three times? Legally declaring bankruptcy? Being a pompous ass?

Re Pardoning Clinton: this is a non issue. Just a fiction being drummed up by the right. As I understand it, a prerequisite for a pardon is a conviction.

Re: Election 2016: Trump vs Clinton
What I watch most of all is the 538 forecast. What I'd like to see is at least a 95% probability of a Clinton win. It's not there, but I feel hopeful. Right now the "polls plus" forecast...which is the one I watch most...has Clinton with a 70.3% chance to win. Another thing is that it looks like the momentum Trump gained from the blows Clinton suffered during the week of October 24 - 28 ended around November 4.
Recall that the Comey thing wasn't the only hit Clinton took during the week of October 24. There was some Wikileaks stuff about Bill Clinton making money in association with the Clinton foundation. Also the week started with a story about Terry McAuliffe, helping to steer money to the election campaign of the wife of an FBI official who went on to lead the probe into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email system.
On October 24 Clinton's chance of winning was rated at 83.9 percent. I was watching it fall as the effects of those things took hold. Sometimes I'd check several times a day. But in the past few days it started back up. And Comey saying "never mind" yesterday didn't hurt.
It's not over by any means. To put it into terms we're familiar with a 70.3% chance of winning is about equivalent to football team being an 8.5 point favorite. So by no means a done deal. I feel better than I would if the probabilities were reversed. But not at ease at all.
I do think it looks like momentum swung back Hillary's way over the past few days. But we'll see.

Re: Election 2016: Trump vs Clinton
BTW I have to comment on a couple of things:
1) Saw a report tonight that the Washington Post has given Hillary Clinton 7 "Four Pinocchios" for real whoppers this campaign season. So how many has it given to Donald Trump? 59. The report indicated that Trump has gotten more "Four Pinocchios" awards during his campaign than all other Republicans combined have gotten over the past three years. But of course that's the lying media. We know that because Trump says so.
2) Saw Trump say the United States is a laughing stock. Wonder if he realizes that, to the extent that we are a laughing stock, it's because HE has a shot to win the Presidency. And we'll REALLY be a laughing stock if he wins. That's one thing that's really ironic. This thing he does where he says we need to elect him so we can get respect. What a complete buffoon. To the the rest of the world it would be like we elected Bozo the Clown. We'd have less respect than we've ever had in the modern era. He's a joke and the rest of the world knows it.
