This has been debated ad nauseum, the significance of January 6 isn't just about the number of lives impacted or the amount of property damage. It was the location (US Capitol building), the significance of the event (Constitutional transfer of power) and the fact that the Vice President, Speaker of House and other Congress Critters feared for their lives and had to evacuate because of the rioters/seditionists. What if we use your logic to dismiss the assassination attempt on trump (way fewer lives impacted, was there any property damage)?

FY 2019 govt spent about 4.4 trillion.
FY 2024 govt spent about 6.8 trillion.

Over 5-10 year periods govt spending always has always grown faster than inflation + population growth combined.
