Yeah...you know...buildings. Owned by the government. Turnbull right by me has them too. They have a classroom for lectures, school groups etc. Offices for managing the property. Equipment buildings and a shop. Went to a presentation on bats there once. The room is full of stuffed critters. It was like a museum and really fucking cool.

Yes. I've literally spent 9 hours on the phone at various times (mostly on hold) "negotiating" with them. I filed for an abatement and was denied. I'm now appealing the abatement.

Go to the local IRS office in Spokompton.

You can only get an abatement of tax or interest for a financial hardship. Anybody with a pulse can get a penalty waiver or reduction, especially if you pay the tax and interest due.

I've paid the amount and was instructed by the CAF unit I was referred to to request an abatement first, then appeal the abatement if I didn't win.

I haven't worked with the IRS very much, but generally all tax collection agencies are similar.

This is for everyone. If a mistake happens, always pay the tax and interest up front, period. Unless you're dealing with a dickwad, penalties can and should be reduced significantly or eliminated entirely.

The occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon, by armed militants has prompted the closure of the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge near Cheney.

A closure notice was posted on the refuge’s website on Friday.

“Due to the ongoing situation in eastern Oregon, and out of an abundance of caution for the well-being of our staff and visitors, Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is currently closed,” the notice reads.

About 150 demonstrators prayed, sang songs and listened to poetry about the member of the group protesting federal land-use policies who was killed in Oregon during a confrontation with law enforcement.

Some were armed with handguns or rifles, while others were carrying only helium balloons that were released at one point during the service in Finicum’s honor. A bugler played taps, a bagpiper “Amazing Grace,” and demonstrators folded a flag into the ceremonial triangle to send to Finicum’s family.

“LaVoy was killed for trying to expose the truth of the unlawful incarceration of the Hammonds,” Jimi O’Hagan, of Grayland, Washington, told the crowd.

Lost in all this noise is the very real issue over Federal sentencing guidelines. Liberals are on board if it involves minorities in prison. There was an opportunity missed here- mostly caused by the liberal hate for these guys.

I read several articles from liberal pundits addressing and admitting to that very issue with this situation. Liberals have been far more vocal regarding sentencing guidelines in general than conservatives.
