My political beliefs were formed from YEARS of hands on experience with American businesses and social work.

I do not march lock-step with any party...have always been "Declined to state", and frequently vote Libertarian.

I do NOT suffer non-voters, apathetic, low info, or slate voters.

It makes a difference - if you care about:

The environment
Equality
The Economy

I know it is the bored hipster thing to say that it doesn't make a difference, but in reality, there is a world of difference between the two parties.

If nothing else, up to 4 SCOTUS Justices could die/retire in the next 5 years. Who do you want on the court - crazed ideologues like Thomas/Scalia/Alito, or thoughtful jurists like Ginsburg?

Apathy IS NEVER RIGHT. A large reason we are in the current predicament is due to apathetic/low info/single issue voters.

95% of African American voters voted for Obama primarily because of his skin color...

...thinking he would "even things" for minorities.

Really.

Dback not only wants a "progressive" who will represent his minority opinions, but wishes to SILENCE and PUNISH those who hold differing viewpoints. Again, an equally dysfunctional approach.
That's not apathetic. :coffee:

I wonder if you really believe that. I wonder because the truth is that Thomas/Scalia/Alito believe at least to some extent in following the Constitution while Ginsburg doesn't give a crap about the Constitution at all. She's completely outcome oriented.

I guess you could say that all of them are ideologues. But with the first three the "ideology" is the idea that the Constitution should be followed while with Ginsburg the "ideology" is that the US Constitution is deeply flawed and a judge should find excuses for not following it.

The good news for your side is that liberals can be confident that a liberal who doesn't give a crap about the Constitution will act like a liberal who doesn't give a crap about the Constitution when they are appointed to the Supreme Court. It's pretty obvious that conservatives take much more of a chance when they appoint somebody they THINK is going to be inclined to follow the Constitution. All you have to do is look at big mistakes like Earl Warren, Sandra Day O'Conner, and now Anthony Kennedy to see that.

If you were to go back in history and take every president, you'll find that the numerical value of each letter in their name was equally divisible into the year in which they were elected. By my calculations, our next president has to be named Yellnick McWawa.

I don't think you can say there's any real difference between the two parties...I think a republican president in the Obama years would've given us a different health care bill, would have never attempted a cap and trade bill, would have a different energy policy, and would've done the Stimulus bill differently. And yeah, there's the supreme court nominations thing.

On a lot of the most important issues (or at least the ones that matter to me) there is no difference. Neither party will break up the big banks or get rid of No Child Left behind or put in place policies that will truly revive manufacturing in the US.

No Republican president was eve going to bring a healthcare bill to vote. And it's interesting that NCLB is viewed as a failure but the universal belief is that no president will "get rid" of it....

Nominations to SCOTUS is a top 3 issue along with the economy & war. With Romney making 2 appointments instead of Obama HUGE difference..

In addition to what you mentioned with a conk POTUS we wouldn't have had 2 huge tax increases the 12/31/12 fiscal cliff deal and Obamacare.
