We're going to praise Kansas for creating "more jobs"
alright - that sounds nice

We then give the success of job generation = Accomplished by cutting taxes

All good so far...
The state of Kansas has now successfully generated less revenue
Due to tax cuts - obviously any idiot would know that
The net result of a tax cut is lower generated revenue

And ye t the state made ZERO adjustments in its budget
and did NOT account for the exciting new tax cuts
and is coming up short (far more shot that I suggested prior to a little investigation)

Classic buffoonery...
The Republican rube goldberg machine of business
where now somebody else will be forced to pay for the Kansas dramatic shortfall in revenue

And who is it - that that pays for - the Kansas blunder
Answer: Not the billionaires who got the Tax Cut

$600 Million and counting in shortfalls
Projected to be over a Billion
My bet:

The people who are paying for the rich people's tax cuts will be the same people who will be paying for the poor people's minimum wage increases.

I've only been saying it for 10 years around here...

We DO NOT have a TAX revenue issue
We have a spending issue

The end:

Every time the Republicans want to "save somebody" from over taxation
they're telling themselves a lie
We are all over taxed
focus your energy on spending less

Not really.

Do you think the government will receive more revenue if the tax rate is 100% or 50%? :suspicious:

There are too many posts to address them all but I'll give you a quick run down of what Utah does since they were mentioned in one of the articles.

1) Utah is about as red of a state as there is.
2) Utah has a balanced budget.
3) Utah has a very low unemployment rate, 3.6%.
4) High Tech is continuing to come to Utah, they get "incentives" .
5) Utah's economy is growing faster then almost anywhere else, 2.6% vs 1.8%.

You can find the numbers in an article linked below but the bottom line it is working in Utah. There are several things not to like in Utah but it sure seems like the state is being run right. :coffee:

Its about a balance budget (first and foremost)
After that the politicians can tinker around and make promises and lie about whatever else gets them votes

Which is why we are in a death spiral that we will only pull out of when we hit the ground:

voters will always votes themselves largesse- even Republicans know this and act accordingly

No politician who runs on ACTUALLY balancing the books can win at the national level- and if they do and they sound sincere thats when they get labeled as kooky

The thread, if you bothered to read the first post, states that lowering taxes for the rich doesn't do much, but lowering taxes for the other 90% actually does something positive.

Let me know when I can help you out again, but fair warning...I'm one of the people that likes to help people who like to be helped. You often show ingratitude to those who try to help you stay focused. Keep it up and your cover will be blown as an elitist conservative snob that likes to lob insults to the Republican party, while ignoring the Democrats, in order to try to seem hippish and fit in with your liberal Seattle brethren.

Running on lowering taxes makes you an establishment Republican

Running on cutting spending makes you unelectable. Establishment Republicans know where that third rail is. Fiscal conservatives kniw where it is too, but they straddle it anyway

and then they ride off into the silly sunset to Kookland

Not true in Utah. See my above post for the links but we have a balanced budget (Amendment even) and they have and do cut taxes. It can and does work, the question may be scale. If you are talking pure federal guvmint, the problem is too many entitlements to balance the budget. :tothehand:

Incorrect. They just want to adjust the budget in different areas than Democrats. And by "adjust", I mean reduce the annual increases (called a "budget cut" in DC parlance) in specific areas...

Yes.

Maybe some Republicans go in with the intention of trying to reign in spending but then reality sets in: if you want to be more than a one term pony you had better toe the line, don't rock the boat, and you had dawn well better not say the word entitlements

The only thing worse are democrats who have no compunction painting true fiscal conservatives (and they are few) as stark raving mad lunatics who want to starve babies and push grandma off a cliff

It is not fixable the way we are set up politically- we have to go the way of Greece first, and then fall even further after the backlash (after all, the,Greeks just threw out the, austerity bums)

You might want to go ahead and take that sh1t and then run off into those woods never to be seen again, now
