No.

Congress has no executive powers and therefore it is really just :coffee: to me.

If you weren't always wearing your liberal glasses you'd see the distinction. Maybe our Consituttional scholar President would too. In fact.... kind of makes you wonder why the WH didn't raise Cain on those grounds to begin with?

It's called the Advice and Consent Clause for a reason.
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States...
--Article II Section 2
Treaties are treated in the same way as Cabinet officials, Ambassadors and Supreme Court Justices. Their appointment means nothing unless the Senate gives it's approval. Obama can give the Ayatollah anything if he wants. Unless the Senate approves, it's just like your participation certificate in rec league junior soccer, a worthless piece of paper.

Typical politics today, both sides are wrong as they either try to be, or just are, as polarizing as possible.

The Republicans misstepped when they actually contacted a foreign government to remind them what they already knew about our Constitutional system (I was fine with Netanhayu addressing Congress, per se, no biggie there), and the President missteps when he ignores Congress when he goes about the Iran question. Talking and consulting with one another, especially behind the scenes, would be a good thing, but I think something that is probably too late in coming in this Presidency. I hope Hillary or Jeb or Scott, or Rand will do better in the next Presidential term. :coffee:

But what gets talked about? Heck, I recall the Democrats in Congress being informed in similar, and more, meetings like this in the runup to the Iraq War, as well as on the domestic spying fiasco, and yet they claimed afterwards to have no idea what was going on.

I'd like to think that there's a lot of substance being discussed, but the public posturing by both Congress and the President would lead me to believe there's less than what would be considered ideal.

Yes, I know that we have no idea what is said in most of these meetings as they're classified.

But, you said that it would be beneficial to have talks... especially... behind close doors. We do have talks behind closed doors. So, which is it?

If this is treason, then Ted Kennedy should have been executed for secretly asking the Soviets to remove Reagan....

1992: Israeli parliamentarian Benjamin Netanyahu tells his colleagues that Iran is 3 to 5 years from being able to produce a nuclear weapon – and that the threat had to be "uprooted by an international front headed by the US."

1992: Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres tells French TV that Iran was set to have nuclear warheads by 1999. "Iran is the greatest threat and greatest problem in the Middle East," Peres warned, "because it seeks the nuclear option while holding a highly dangerous stance of extreme religious militancy."

1992: a task force of the House Republican Research Committee claimed that there was a "98 percent certainty that Iran already had all (or virtually all) of the components required for two or three operational nuclear weapons."

1995: In his 1995 book, “Fighting Terrorism,” Netanyahu once again asserted that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in “three to five years,” apparently forgetting about the expiration of his old deadline.

1998: former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld reports to Congress that Iran could build an intercontinental ballistic missile – one that could hit the US – within five years. The CIA gave a timeframe of 12 years.

A 2009 U.S. State Department diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks described then-prime ministerial candidate Netanyahu informing a visiting Congressional delegation that Iran was “probably one or two years away” from developing weapons capability. Another cable later the same year showed Netanyahu, now back in office as prime minister, telling a separate delegation of American politicians in Jerusalem that “Iran has the capability now to make one bomb,” adding that alternatively, “they could wait and make several bombs in a year or two.”

In 2012 Netanyahu said in closed talks reported by Israeli media that Iran is just “a few months away” from attaining nuclear capabilities. Later that same year, he gave a widely-mocked address at the United Nations in which he alleged that Iran would have the ability to construct a weapon within roughly one year, while using a printout of a cartoon bomb to illustrate his point.

TEHRAN (The Borowitz Report)—Stating that “their continuing hostilities are a threat to world peace,” Iran has offered to mediate talks between congressional Republicans and President Obama.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, made the offer one day after Iran received what he called a “worrisome letter” from Republican leaders, which suggested to him that “the relationship between Republicans and Obama has deteriorated dangerously.”

“Tensions between these two historic enemies have been high in recent years, but we believe they are now at a boiling point,” Khamenei said. “As a result, Iran feels it must offer itself as a peacemaker.”

He said that his nation was the “logical choice” to jumpstart negotiations between Obama and the Republicans because “it has become clear that both sides currently talk more to Iran than to each other.”

He invited Obama and the Republicans to meet in Tehran to hash out their differences and called on world powers to force the two bitter foes to the bargaining table, adding, “It is time to stop the madness.”

Hours after Iran made its offer, President Obama said that he was willing to meet with his congressional adversaries under the auspices of Tehran, but questioned whether “any deal reached with Republicans is worth the paper it’s written on.”

For their part, the Republicans said they would only agree to talks if there were no preconditions, such as recognizing President Obama’s existence.

Partisan powered paranoia, need to be in a constant state of war with any and every country that does not agree with American policies, a need to ignore a sitting POTUS for political reasons shrouded in piles of fear, and again, 47% of us swallow it hook, line, and sinker. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Fact: The United States of America is the only country in history to use nuclear weapons on another country, and that country did not have nuclear weapons. :dunce:

Fact: Why do you Faux News warriors suppose there has not been any nuclear weapons used by any country against any other nuclear power???

M.A.D, that is why. You live by the bomb, you will die by the bomb. Suicide committed willingly on a nations self.... :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

The United States of America has the most modern, most dependable, and most usable nuclear stockpile in the world, bar none. They are deployed all around the world, and they can be used in a matter of minutes on anybody in the world, and they have no defense from it..

Israel has hundreds and maybe a thousand usable nuclear devices that can also be deployed accurately in a matter of minutes, and I suspect they are strikingly similar to what we have developed. 8-)

Keep shitting your pants kids, keep watching politically crafted propaganda that keeps you sufficiently paranoid, and scared. Hell, go vote for some POTUS candidate that doesn't even believe in evolution as long as they want to start another war, and send all the mexicans back across the border as soon as they get in office. :dunce:

Then bitch, bellyache, piss and moan when a Democrat kicks them out of office again, and goes about repairing all the damage done, politically, economically, and otherwise, because you are butthurt again for following another retard into the White House..

Superhornet!!!
WOW!!! Talk about a retard. :dunce:
It takes something or someone truly "special" to coax bulldog10jw into making an appearance. There is no question Wedgie is that special kind of "special."
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

What flailing?

You mean actually quoting the constitution, and Jefferson, etc?

The only flailing, and failing, is from the Conktards
Well, there's been buffoonery from both sides, but you did declare treason - not your shining moment.
