I love Portland but it has a lot of problems...
And it is corrupt

Portland has the same - but opposite - problem as a bible belt type city political situation
In the Bible Belt as long as you talk Jesus you can be corrupt and deceitful and get elected over and over

In Portland as long as you're Bat Shit Crazy Liberal you can get re-elected regardless of corruption

and black in DC... :coffee:
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?
A: The actual teachings of Jesus

:tothehand: I have plenty of culture. I'm just not a fan of bleu cheese. I don't mind it with hot wings, but that's about it. 8-)

Scott Walker didn't answer a question about evolution

and he didn't finish college

Veering off topic wildly but you reminded me of things I was thinking as I saw those two points discussed on various shows.

1) How one feels about evolution has absolutely no practical significance unless you are an evolutionary biologist. This thing of making whether or not someone "believes in evolution" is ridiculous. Even if you're something like a medical doctor it makes absolutely no difference. You don't need to "believe in evolution" in order to be an outstanding medical doctor. And you CERTAINLY don't need to "believe in evolution" to be an outstanding President of the United States. This thing with evolution has become like a religious dogma thing. And I think I should say that I do believe in evolution. But this thing of acting like whether you believe in that or not makes any difference unless your in one of a few very specific fields is ridiculous.

2) Neither Bill Gates nor Steve Jobs graduated from college. Case closed. This culture places WAY too much emphasis on formal education.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
