Huh? Has it really been that long since the Bush years from 2006-2008? Bush couldn't have been more of a pariah. How quickly we forget. No wonder we collectively are a dumb country when it comes to history and our command of it. :coffee:

"The Republican message was, 'We're not Obama.' No substance whatsoever,"
There's plenty of substance to that. Obama wants to take the country in the wrong direction. If the message is "we want to obstruct Obama" that's a substantive message. You have a guy in power who has a completely wrong headed view of the world and the role of government. If your message is that you don't want him to succeed in changing things the way he wants to change things, you don't want him getting any Supreme Court nominees on the Court, etc., that's a substantive message.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I saw Dean on CNBC recently and he admitted to being a "fiscal conservative" (and I think he may be). It struck me then that the term has become PC in a way. We need a solid definition of the term, though. Seriously, would anyone freely admit that they are NOT a fiscal conservative?
But if you are not a "fiscal conservative", what are you (besides a fucking moran)? A kalmunist? A Chizzangthrapist? A houndawgian? Capstrated? Griznofuckingway? Jellyfetish?

Republicans have gotten a fiscal conservative pass for quite sometime.

Btw, Kalmunism is steeped in fiscal conservation.

Here it is in all its' glory, the "but Bush" defense again. Bush's policies weren't popular in the rear view for sure (even though 58% of Democratic senators voted for the Iraq resolution, but I digress), but comparatively I think the last six years have been worse at dividing the nation. Guys like you who likely voted twice for this president are the ones who forgot all the transparency, hope, and change that was promised as recently as 2008. You're absolutely right about us being a dumb country. :coffee:

The point of this thread is the recent results of the Democratic party and the reasons for it, not a rehash of the Bush administration which as we all know turned out to be a pretty dark time for the country. We've lived through nearly six years of "it's not my fault, it was the prior administration" and it's time to man up and take some responsibility for what's happened on his watch. These mid term results were an indictment on the policies of the president as has been pointed out already.
If you're one who voted Dem in '08, listened to four years of deflection while he continued many of the prior admin's policies, then voted for him again then I simply can't help you. :coffee:

I think you're missing the point here in all your anger and righteousness - I was just pointing out that the Republicans in 2006 ran away from Bush when it came to campaigning and he was pointedly told not to come to certain places to campaign because the Republican there didn't want the distraction. You said you had never seen a party try to distance themselves from their President and I was saying that wasn't so, because the Republicans did pretty much the same in 2006. That doesn't excuse Obama from anything, I was just pointing out that you can't seem to remember back 8 years.

As for voting for Obama, I voted for Romney in 2012. So that's two things you've gotten wrong in two separate posts. Don't worry, message boards are like baseball, you only need to be right 20%-30% of the time to make it to the big time. You still have a chance!

2012 and 2014 are uncannily like 2004 and 2006, except identity politics have replaced the social issues and the parties have reversed roles.

Does the word "likely" mean anything to you? Based on your posts some could assume that you were pro Obama both times (but I at least get half credit for 2008  ) - that was my apparently incorrect interpretation of the substance of many of your posts.

Six years of "We're not Bush" worked. Really, it's kind of embarassing that it took so long for conks to figure it out. :ohno: :ohno:
