I do a moderate weights work out every other day. Just finished one in fact. But I still only way 184 pounds.

Besides, obviously, being able to beat other people up isn't really the to determinant of success in this culture. There's alway going to be somebody that's not going to work with. And it that's not the case now it will be in the future. Just not a good way to measure yourself.

And I even felt that way when I was a testosterone laden 20 year old. Always found that fighting is almost always avoidable and you don't have to come off as a coward to avoid it.

It referred to "the conks on this board" and included a reference to half of them having been in the military. But it was a reference to "the conks on this board." You may have intended to refer to only those who had been in the military in your part of that post. But if so you didn't say so. The post of mine to which you responded had no mention of the military at all.

when you are standing in front of a suspect at night with notebook in one hand and maglite in the other and the dude decides he wants to fight.... you dont throw down the light and grab your baton... you just hit him with the light. those maglites can kill

which brings me to a funny story

my partner was in a fight with a dude and whacked him with his plastic light because he couldnt get his baton out. the plastic light broke into a few pieces. later that night (or in the wee morning hours) we were sitting in the patrol car and he was messing with the battery which had come out of the light. it was one of those early rechargeable ones that was not meant to come out of the flashlight.... the whole light went into the charger. anyway, the wrapping had come off the battery and he was messing with it and it sparked and exploded in the car and set the cloth seat on fire

by the time we got the extinguisher out of the trunk the front seat was toast

Boeing is having the same problem with those rechargeable's...

My point was up there - and its something you already know - as a 20 something, such as I was at the time, I wasn't quite aware that damn near ANYTHING was a deadly weapon, including pay phones and flashlights...

Later that night (after the shock of the incident wore off) that was all me and my buddies could talk about was that we just witnessed a very serious fight - quite literally for life or death - and the weapons of choice were a phone and a flashlight

a real eye opener for me... Little Chizzy grew up some that day

thats why the second golden rule of police work (the first being "go home alive") is "always watch the other guy's hands"

if he hurts or kills you it will be with his hands or something he holds in them- and that weapon can literally be anything-

i remember a dude whose girfriend killed him with a toaster..... hit him in the head with it and raised a subdural hematoma that killed him two days later

The older models with the switch with the "square ears", worked very well, but the batteries were problematic. The newer model SL20X, with the flattened switch, has better batteries, but the charger overheats the switch and bakes the contacts...requiring switch replacement every 5-10 years.

Still, the best flashlight made.
