True, although most private sectors will give 11 days of "holidays" - most will only list out 8 and then give the other 3 as floaters.UNI88 wrote:If you were to sync it up with the majority of the private sector, you'd get:Ibanez wrote:

In whose opinion? I've seen no data to support that.

Can you provide some data supporting it as the national pastime?SuperHornet wrote:In whose opinion? I've seen no data to support that.

The murderous, raping, Columbus doesn't deserve a holiday. Neither does the lame ass sport of baseball.
Arbor Day, and the Equinox's are more deserving. Also St. Paddy's Day and Kalm's birthday the day before as a mutual celebration.

The point being that these nincompoops make bald statements without proof, while YOU seem to be one of the few around here with the ability to back it up.clenz wrote:you really want me to prove you wrong yet again?SuperHornet wrote:In whose opinion? I've seen no data to support that.

I know many people around the country who still consider baseball to be the national pastime. Whether or not that's true on a statistical basis is a different story.

The native inhabitants were also participated in murderous and raping activities before Columbus brought the European version.AZGrizFan wrote:The murderous, raping Columbus acted no differently than any of the dozens and dozens of explorers of his time.kalm wrote:The murderous, raping, Columbus doesn't deserve a holiday. Baseball does have the largest total attendance of any professional sport in the USA. I know, I know, they play more games. Me personally, I would rather go to a pro baseball game first, then basketball, then either football or hockey. Of course NDSU football or basketball would be on top of my list.clenz wrote:you really want me to prove you wrong yet again?SuperHornet wrote:In whose opinion? I've seen no data to support that.

Pro football is like pro wrestling as far a bright lights and hype. I would much rather spend a relaxing day at the ballpark over a loud drunken orgy at an NFL game or WWE event.

Better TV ratings. More revenue. And there's an actual popularity poll where NFL still has a pretty good lead over MLB for at least the 30th straight year.SuperHornet wrote:In whose opinion? I've seen no data to support that.

Re: Interesting Proposal from the Wizard of Oz...
Football will win those polls every time. In the memorabilia market, baseball still out sells all the other sports. Souvenirs and Apparel would go to Football. That tells me that there is a larger number of serious baseball collectors vs any other sport, but there are more football fans, making it more popular. They are playing professional baseball games right now, and many games are selling out. There are a lot of complaints about pre-season football games and it's easy to get a cheap ticket to games that rarely have a packed house. Baseball is my pastime, what I do for fun on a regular basis. I think drinking beer is more of the national pastime than any sport, and football includes a lot of beer whether you are at a game or watching at a party at home.Pwns wrote:Better TV ratings. I'm not meaning to justify what Columbus and the Euro-slaughterers did, just saying it was the IN thing to do in America, and if you were not doing the slaughtering, you were probably getting slaughtered.kalm wrote:Never mind, it was the Taino's I was think of who suffered the genocide.Gil Dobie wrote:
