I must have missed that part in the article.
Then I guess you missed the part where the IRS felt it was appropriate to issue an official apology in spite of having been completely fair and targeting lefty organizations equally.

So then the allegation is Obama op's either colluded with the Bush appointee or bi-passed him to have lower level IRS auditors focus on conks? I'm not saying that couldn't happen but...

For all this initial bluster their are far worse things to take Obama to task on and I'll bet you this doesn't go very far.

Yeah I saw Jay Carney passing off Bush's appointee as a reason why this couldn't possibly be a partisan issue.

TBH- I think that if you or I had been the victims of this we'd be seeing it a little differently.

It keeps getting worse.....:

"IRS targeted groups that criticized the government, IG report says

At various points over the past two years, Internal Revenue Service officials targeted nonprofit groups that criticized the government and sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution, according to documents in an audit conducted by the agency’s inspector general.

The documents, obtained by The Washington Post from a congressional aide with knowledge of the findings, show that on June 29, 2011, IRS staffers held a briefing with senior agency official Lois G. Lerner in which they described giving special attention to instances where “statements in the case file criticize how the country is being run.” Lerner, who oversees tax-exempt groups for the agency, raised objections and the agency revised its criteria a week later.

But six months later, the IRS applied a new political test to groups that applied for tax-exempt status as “social welfare” groups, the document says. On Jan. 15, 2012 the agency decided to target “political action type organizations involved in limiting/expanding Government, educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, social economic reform movement.,” according to the appendix in the IG report, which was requested by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has yet to be released....."

That's the whole point of immigration "reform". They are trying to flood the country, particularly red states like Arizona and Texas, with undocumented Democrat voters.
Is that it? Could it not be to get the 11 million illegal immigrants to come out of the darkness, become legal, pay taxes, get better wages and have them start paying back for all the services they use for free? The sales tax they pay when they buy a cheeseburger doesn't count as paying their share of taxes

Those 11 million newly legal immigrants will have the right to petition for their entire families as well. Each one of them will transmit an immigration benefit to their parents, their children, spouses, and siblings (and THEIR children and spouses). A very liberal estimate is that those 11 million will actually translate into somewhere within 45 million after the original 11 million naturalize.

The majority of there 11 million will absorb much more in public assistance than they will pay in taxes. These aren't exactly the captains of industry and science, here.

It is an absolute mess which could have been prevented with better border security, which is also going to wind up being ignored in the immigration reform bill.

Cheap immigrant labor has never been in short supply. Nobody has ever seen landscaping or roofing companies hurting for workers. This is more about how these people are going to vote more public assistance and services. There is no worker crisis in the USA. Especially not now.

95% of those 11 million have fake SSN's and pay taxes already. The lift from legalization won't even be noticeable. And 95% of them don't make enough money to have to worry about "paying back for all the services they use".

Good point. Let me ask you this. Is border security the only and/or best way to protect the borders?
Spoiler: show
I say no. It's only part of the solution.
I forget where I read the statistic, but I think Obama has increased border patrols by 20% since 2008 (14% is on the southern border. I may have those numbers wrong, but it's close.)

Look at the 4,000 mile border between America and Canada, in 2009 7,000 people were arrested trying to illegal enter the USA. They were entering from a country with a strong, stable economy. That same year, 541,000 people were caught trying to illegally enter from Mexico. The answer to the illegal immigration problem is more than border security. Mexico has to grow stronger. I know not all illegal immigrants are Mexican.

Image
http://immigration.procon.org/view.reso ... eID=000845" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

75% of the illegal immigrants are from Mexico or Latin American countries. If these countries had stronger economies and were more safe, would people be going so far out of their way to have a chance of something better in the USA? Surely, regional and economic stability is a huge factor to consider when asking why these people are coming here. :twocents: :coffee:

Historically, the U.S.-Canadian border has been seen as safer than the southern, the Canadian government, more stable and security-minded than Mexico's.
