Can someone give a brother a quote so that the Wedgehead can get an opposing point of view (if he hasn't left to go pull his eyes out of their sockets)?
Having met brother Wedge and the missus in person, your analysis of his politics, views, and thinking is WAY off. :twocents:
And, having slept with BOTH of them, I say you are spot on, brother kalm!

I also don't believe in "classics" such as the Illiad...although, similarly, it does make for good fiction. :thumb:

I can see exploiting a safety first mentality to gain control. But I think the problem is that the People do have that "safety first" attitude. Seriously. Like how many times have you seen people respond to what goes on at airports now by saying "as long as they keep us safe?" I really do think there is a a majority of the population who can be convinced to go along with just about anything if they can be convinced that it lowers risk a little.
The People are being conditioned by the constant fear-mongering of the govt. I agree with STD1990, I'd rather be less safe than where we're headed. Jesus, people, you have a better chance of being hit by lightning.

Huh? Guantanamo is carrying on, yet this happened anyway.

We should wait until we know who did this before we start allowing it to effect our political policies.

Yup - don't be like Steve King from Iowa who is calling for complete halt to all immigration reform because of this.

While I suspect al-queda/al-queda inspired terrorist is responsible, karma would dictate it was a former tea-party campaign volunteer from Iowa who did this.

Could be anybody. The fact that there was apparently no advance warning of this leads me to think it was done by a small group or individual. Based on the little bit of info I've heard, I don't think it is out of the question that one person did this all by himself.

karma would dictate that a gay person did this because his boyfriend just left him for a woman.

Interesting question.......if a gay switches teams does he still get the special rights they are flailing about or does he just have to follow the same rules all of us do?

You could be right - nobody taking credit and the pros would have waited until a crowd gathered before detonating the second bomb, which would have been closer to the first one..

This wouldn't have happened if the runners were armed and the marathon wasn't a gun-free zone.
