Moderate republicans are not speaking out, because they are afraid to.
You can't possibly be that blindly partisan to NOT see that happening on the other side of the aisle?
Of course it happens on both sides. Conks are just better at it and more numerous.

Yeah, Chuck Hagel is all over the news.
Go back to 2008 when he had the quote they referenced. He was all over the news back then trying to gain favor with the D's.

I call BS on this one. I can reasonably be considered a moderate conk and I could give a sh!t what the Tea Party thinks. While I don't like the direction that the Tea Party and evangelicals are dragging the Republican Party, I don't see anything from the other side that I find any more appealing. The reality is that I've been disenfranchised by both sides, they're both devolving into juvenile, intransigent ideologues.
The Tea Party & evangelicals aren't doing anything to the Right that moveon.org isn't doing to the left. Both parties have their political extremes. Always have and always will....
I completely agree. A part of the problem is the evolution/revolution in media and communications have given the extremists (on both sides) the tools to push their agenda and punish those that don't fall in line. Rahm Emanuel's selection of centrist Democratic candidates to run in the 2006 Congressional elections is the exception rather than the rule now. Hopefully people's viewpoints and the media evolve to the point where we can actually work together again.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

I'd be VERY comfortable saying that the views of the US voting population in aggregate follows a normal distribution with moveon.org and the tea party making up the tails on either side. They're simply counterbalances - most of the rest of us, whether you're right or left leaning fall pretty close to the middle. I ask that our government treat their checkbook the way the rest of our households do it, but that paints me as a bible thumping puppet on the right. :ohno:

We have a few on here that would check every box in agreement with moveon or the tea party agendas, but they are VERY few. My views take from both the right and the left with the exception of fiscal responsibility. :twocents:

Where are the Moderate Conks?

I'd like a little fiscal responsibility in government, and the problem has gotten so bad that I am willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with birthers, Apollo mission deniers, evangelicals, creationists, and Pee Wee Herman to get it. (because I know that they have no chance in hell of getting what they want, but I have at least a snowball's chance of getting what I want)

Just as the left is OK with Al Sharpton as a legitimate political commentator and Andy Weiner as a legitimate candidate for NYC mayor (ref: Garofolo)
