I will get y'all a safe space. You can share.

All this PC bullcrap and then people lose their minds over Kapernick expressing his freedoms. For all the anit PC that conservatives have been talking, they sure lost their minds over this one. Do I agree with what he is doing? No. But he as the right to do it. Sure people have the to trash him. But those that call him unamerican or that he should leave the country or anything like that are the true people that hate freedom. What he is doing is very American.

As others have said, it's funny that everyone told blacks to protest peacefully when they rioted after police shootings. Kapernick does just that and people really lose their minds.

The NFL will need to put trigger warnings up before games reminding viewers that some players may be protesting in a manner that they do agree with.

Other than perhaps underestimating the power of civil disobediance, Dabo Swinney gets it. He also gets Christianity.
“(The Bible) says, Love the Lord with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul. The second one is, love your neighbor as you’d love yourself. It doesn’t say love your neighbor from the same religion. It doesn’t say love your neighbor if they’re the same color as you. It doesn’t say love your neighbor if they pull for the same team as you. It doesn’t say love your neighbor if they’re the same gender as you, or whatever. (It doesn’t say) love your neighbor if they have the same sexuality as you. It just says, love your neighbor as you’d love yourself. If we all lived by that in this country, we wouldn’t have near the problems we have.

“There’s a lot of good police officers. There’s thousands of perfect traffic stops. Lot of good men. Lot of good women. But those don’t get the stories. There’s some criminals that wear badges. Guess what? There’s some criminals that work in the media. There’s some criminals that are football coaches. There’s some criminals that are politicians. There are criminals that work in churches. It’s so easy to say we have a race problem, but we got a sin problem. It’s just my opinion. That’s Dabo’s opinion.

“I think the answer to our problems is exactly what they were for Martin Luther King when he changed the world. Love, peace, education, tolerance of others, Jesus. A lot of these things in this world were only a dream for Martin Luther King. Not a one-term, but a two-term African-American president. And this is a terrible country? There are interracial marriages. I go to a church that’s an interracial church. Those were only dreams for Martin Luther King. Black head coaches. Black quarterbacks. Quarterbacks at places like Georgia and Alabama and Clemson. For Martin Luther King, that was just a dream. Black CEOs, NBA owners, you name it. Unbelievable.

“Now, does that mean that there’s not still problems? Yes. Where there’s people, whether they’re black, green, yellow, orange or white, there is going to be sin, greed, hate, jealousy, deceitfulness. There’s going to be that. That’s always going to be there. But attitude, work ethic, love, respect for others, that doesn’t know any color.”

Wut? Why did you post that portion of his quote.
Here is the one that pertains to this discussion:
“I think everybody has the right to express himself in that regard. But I don’t think it’s good to be a distraction to your team. I don’t think it’s good to use the team as a platform. I totally disagree with that. Not his protest. But I just think there’s a right way to do things. I don’t think two wrongs make a right. Never have, never will. I think it just creates more divisiveness, more division.

“I think there’s a better way. How about call a press conference? Express your feelings. Everybody will show up, talk about it. Go and be a part of things, and protest them. That’s great. I think everybody has that right. I certainly respect that. But I just think that this just creates more division. That’s what I hate to see.

“I hate to see what’s going on in our country. I really do. I think this is a good world. I think this is a great country. It’s just that things get painted with a broad brush in this world these days.

Anybody catch the season opener of South Park? Spoiler alert:
Spoiler: show
Episode starts with a packed gym to watch the South Park girls volleyball team. The only black girl on the team is rumored to be going to kneel during the anthem. The crowd is placing wagers on whether or not she'll do it. No need to spoil what happens during the anthem. Immediately after the anthem everyone leaves and the game starts in an empty gym, like every girls sport.

The town then proposes "rebooting" the national anthem and decides on JJ Abrams, because he saved Star Wars.

There is also a return of Giant Douche vs Turd Sandwich for the 2016 election.

:ohno:
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Missouri state senator refused to stand while her colleagues recited the Pledge of Allegiance in the state Capitol.

Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, a St. Louis Democrat, said her silent protest Wednesday on the Senate floor was intended to show solidarity with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Because how we treat each other and being a good person is far more important than Kap not standing for the anthem. I know you're hung up on that and think it's THE issue and really really important, but it's not. It was a mild form of civil disobedience that has proven to be quite affective in creating the conversation. If Kap had held a press conference we wouldn't still be talking about it.

Dabo, MLK, and Jesus are all about the love, man...

Wrong. His concerns are not what is being talked about. His actions are. At some point, hopefully he will do something that truly helps in solving the problem.

Good thing the topic hasn't been covered for two straight weeks while other NFL teams and high school kids around the country are joining in.

About the issue? No. I don't care. I don't affect him, or others like him, and it doesn't affect me.

Except the time my car was broken into in college and someone stole my skateboard and speakers, and the time I got mugged in a parking garage in Philly and lost cash and a diving watch.

This is one of the many CORRECT ways to do it. Take note Kaeperdouche.
MIAMI (AP) — Dwyane Wade still plans to do plenty of talking about the need for societal change, a quest that became even more personal for him after one of his cousins was shot and killed last month on a Chicago street.

Talk, he knows, isn't enough.

"Actions," he said, "speak louder than words."

So Wade took action on Saturday morning. Back in Miami — his former home, the city where he played for the first 13 years of his NBA career — Wade hopped on a bicycle for a six-mile ride through the streets to promote unity. Alongside him were Miami police officers, who quickly threw their support behind the event when Wade came up with the idea.

"I really reached out to the police department for them to be a part of this, to really drive home unity with the police as well in the community," said Wade, who had hundreds of fans and supporters wake up early to join him as well. "I think today was a good step in the right direction for everyone who came out here."

He was joined on the ride by former Heat teammate Udonis Haslem. Wade and Haslem played for all three Heat teams that won NBA championships.
