Re: Jesus had a wife
Joe, we've been listening to your viewpoint for 2000 years. Not much has changed on your end, but the rest of the world has, dramatically. You fail to acknowledge this, hence your atrocious behavior and losing record.JoltinJoe wrote:Funny, I get insulted left and right, called an idiot, told I don't amount to anything, and when I finally shoot back, Ibanez jumps in at me.D1B wrote:

It's a shame really.
You know what? I understand your arguments. I get them. But you don't understand mine. You guys refuse to place any value on human intuition, and rely only on what is tangible. Of course, it is human intuition which fuels the acquisition of knowledge. We reach for scientific facts and new ideas based on the intuition that the world is round, that space flight is possible, and now that we can colonize the moon.
We reach for moral truth and purpose the same way -- but this is a journey that you don't want to undertake. We seek reasons for our existence and we intuit there are greater reasons we are here. We reach out to a higher being for a reason. We grow in knowledge and strength as this journey continues. We intuit that the miraculous is possible, for possibly rational reasons that we do not yet grasp, but you want no part of it. Closed-mindedness stunts growth. But you guys would rather engage in cheap personal attacks than open your minds and listen to another viewpoint. It's why you are where you are in life.
It doesn't take going to Fordham to get it.

If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

How long ago was it that you reasonably considered an opposing view and replied without without a smarmy comment?
But you keep, keeping on.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Don't look down your nose at me. I have a different view from D1b and wasn't in your pissing match. Also, being raised Catholic, attending Catholic schools, sunday schools, taking time to learn about religions (their histories and traditions), being heavily involved in the church, etc... gives me an appreciation for what you are saying, even if I disagree. However, it's my opinion that you go about it all wrong. You come out high and mighty. I whole-heartedly agree with you that "Closed-mindedness stunts growth." But that raises a good question, how open-minded are you? You certainly don't appear to be so.JoltinJoe wrote:Funny, I get insulted left and right, called an idiot, told I don't amount to anything, and when I finally shoot back, Ibanez jumps in at me.D1B wrote:

In the end, this is a pointless "debate" on a football message board. You will never change your position. I'm all for discussing the possibilities, but people like you seem to ignore (or maybe forget) that the books were down at a later date, most likely by someone else (face it, fisherman were not extremely literate, if literate at all), were written to promote a specific view and collected with books that were written for the same reasons. The book is written by sinful men with a certain goal. The book has been used to justify crimes such as burning "witches", taking land, slavery, subjugation of actions, money, power, women and more
My parents love to say, "it's a leap of faith". It might be, but it seems illogical to me.

Re: Jesus had a wife
End of thread fact check.
(1) 99.99% of historians agree that Jesus of Nazareth actually existed; claims that he never existed are frivolous.
(2) The use of "cult" as a pejorative is inappropriate to characterize a world-wide belief system with over 1.2 billion adherents.
(3) Most atheists do not engage in abstract or intuitive reasoning and consequently they are left behind when the discussion becomes challenging. At this point, they resort to mocking belief systems by calling them "fairy tales" or "toys."

I have a real good friend making 6 figures at his job, owns his own race team, owns 2 trucks, 2 snowmobiles, 3 4 wheelers, 2 atvs, and more guns than I can count...all outright. We're in the APDA, where the nation's best schools compete nationally and internationally. We're too good for the NDPA.Stop discussing the topic and go down that road. What would Jesus do?
I guess his education is way better than mine....probably jj's too...I mean, did you have that quality of life at just turned 25 Joe?
