But a significant part of the lefty position is that he definitely did it ... so it is difficult to push back against that kind of garbage without appearing to take the opposite pole

Where does government own the means of production in either of those, klam?

Everybody is so wrapped up in whether he did it or not - doesn't anybody appreciate the irony of the Ivy League pencil-neck who said that "..it's our job to make the witness's pattern of revolting behavior clear - piece by painful piece.." whimpering and sniveling like a little bitch on TV because the mean black girl spoke unkindly to him?

I thought you were the Demi Moore character - your objection got overruled with 89's response but you doubled down anyway and you "strenuously objected" this time. You know, the whole quote from Cruise of "oh I forgot, you were absent the day they taught law at law school". Here's another couple on the list of brilliant ideas donks are running on:

Allowing felons to vote
Eliminating the electoral college

Both highly debatable. I’m neutral on the EC. After a felon pays their dues I’m not sure why they shouldn’t be able to vote. I’m fact their votes might be more educated than some non felons.

We can summarily dismiss a number of your original beefs. There are some that require more evidence. Some additional are things you haven’t thought through that actually have merit. Tighten up your list and this could be a well reasoned exercise. We’ll call it the re-education of Z!

Is allowing felons to vote that big of a deal? Why or why not?

Eliminating the electoral college should be an absolute no go. The fact that we have and are surviving some absolutely abhorrent presidents (Trump & Dubya to the left, Obama to the right) is proof that the founders set up a great system. The fact that we elected these schmucks (and nominated their opponents) is proof that we aren't capable enough to replace it with something better.

I'm good with felons, who have served their time, being able to vote. I'm certainly against people currently in prison voting from prison, but assuming they have served their sentence and are no longer under control of the courts (so that means parole too - but I think parole should be greatly minimized too) then I'm fine with them voting. The whole point of prison and parole is to punish and rehabilitate, so once they have been, let them vote.

As for the Electoral College, it's never going away. States aren't going to vote themselves into irrelevance any time soon, and would take 38 states voting to do so and there's no where close to that number that would vote to amend.

Not sure if the first article was posted but better twice than not at all:

Sorry Bernie Bros But Nordic Countries Are Not Socialist
The myth of Nordic socialism is partially created by a confusion between socialism, meaning government exerting control or ownership of businesses, and the welfare state in the form of government-provided social safety net programs. However, the left’s embrace of socialism is not merely a case of redefining a word. Simply look at the long-running affinity of leftists with socialist dictators in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela for proof many on the left long for real socialism.

To the extent that the left wants to point to an example of successful socialism, not just generous welfare states, the Nordic countries are actually a poor case to cite. Regardless of the perception, in reality the Nordic countries practice mostly free market economics paired with high taxes exchanged for generous government entitlement programs.
Bernie Sanders Wants A Scandinavian-Model Social Insurance System. Sure, Why Not? (For Retirement Anyway)
Now, in those European countries who have a much heavier emphasis on social welfare provision, they call their model “social democracy” because they know full well that “socialism” has a specific meaning that is not merely the extensive provision of social insurance/social assistance benefits in a capitalist economic system.

And in a prior article on another platform, I observed that even in countries with the most generous of medical benefits by the state, the state provision appears to top out at 85%, with the remaining 15% paid by individuals out-of-pocket or via private health insurance; the proposals of Sanders and others for “Medicare for All,” in which (unlike the current Medicare program) all care is covered without any cost-share, go well beyond this.

But the greater irony is what retirement systems look like in the three countries of Scandinavia, which are – really – not what you’d expect at all for countries that are popularly understood to be paradises of income redistribution.

This lack of knowledge of just what socialism is is reflected in posts seen here on CS that claim “if you like the police, fire departments, and road construction...then you are a socialist...”

As long as humans are involved, any attempt at socialism will eventually (quickly, or over time) become like China, Cambodia, Cuba, the Soviet Union, Venezuela, Vietnam, etc...Those in power like the power and privilege and will do anything to keep it, even at the expense of the people they say they serve...

They've paid their due to society and should have a voice in how they're governed. In fact, I'd take it a step further and say felons in prison should have a voice.

But you don't care about liberty, so not surprising you'd rather tread on it.
