That was her job no?

Oh and fancy you brought up Lynch:
It was revealed over the weekend that months worth of text messages between anti-Trump FBI official Peter Strzok and his DOJ extra-marital paramour Lisa Page have “disappeared” and can’t be recovered due to a technical glitch.

Byron York details the importance of these missing emails from December 2016 through May 2017, in relation to the timeline of events that occurred over those months.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press points out one text message that did not disappear and was released over the weekend. Buried in literally the final paragraphs of their article, AP shows a text that appears to suggest that Attorney General Loretta Lynch knew no charges would be brought against Hillary Clinton in the investigation into her use of an unauthorized, non-secure email server to keep and distribute top secret information:

In another exchange, the two express displeasure about the timing of Lynch’s announcement that she would defer to the FBI’s judgment on the Clinton investigation. That announcement came days after it was revealed that the attorney general and former President Bill Clinton had an impromptu meeting aboard her plane in Phoenix, though both sides said the email investigation was never discussed.

Strzok said in a July 1 text message that the timing of Lynch’s announcement “looks like hell.” And Page appears to mockingly refer to Lynch’s decision to accept the FBI’s conclusion in the case as a “real profile in courag(e) since she knows no charges will be brought.”

July 1st was before the FBI had even interviewed Mrs. Clinton about the email investigation and it was four days before then-FBI Director James Comey announced to the world that Clinton would not face criminal charges.

So, how did Lynch “know no charges” would be brought at that time?

Drip, drip, drip...
...each day brings credible reports suggesting there is a massive scandal involving the top ranks of America’s premier law enforcement agency. The reports, which feature talk among agents of a “secret society” and suddenly missing text messages, point to the existence both of a cabal dedicated to defeating Donald Trump in 2016 and of a plan to let Hillary Clinton skate free in the classified email probe...

There is more evidence that there was misconduct at the FBI than there is evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians to throw the election

We're not talking about "misconduct." This is a conspiracy of a coup, no?

93's article talks of a "secret society" and "cabal" trying to overthrow the president.

New York Post stories are fun!

But seriously, Mueller’s credibility is shot at this point. Trump can use the Nunez memo as a bargaining chip at will now. It’s his, ahem, Trump card. Not that it really matters. The whole Russia thing is a charade, of course.

Maybe YOU are talking about that. I'm not sure how trying to use shady evidence to try to surveil a Presidential candidate is a coup, but have at it, Junior

The veracity of the Nunes memo is highly questionable. They could have declassified it or leaked it by now. But hey, Jeanine Pirro and Alex Jones are on board, so I hope they still do...the theatre will be fun!
So, to summarize, here’s what we know up to this point about this latest madness: a) There is an undisclosed four-page memorandum, b) written by Nunes’s staff, c) which was made available in a party-line vote to anyone in the House, d) but remains unreleased to the public at large, e) and for which no one but Nunes and a handful of House Intelligence members and staffers have seen the evidence in support of it. :suspicious:

And that’s why we’re here. House Republicans, especially those predisposed to exonerate Trump of anything Russia-related, have used every superlative in the book to describe the explosive memo. Iowa’s Steve King said it was “worse than Watergate.” Freshman Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, who has already called for the firing of Mueller, is of the mind that “there are people who will go to jail” over the contents of the memo. Mark Meadows of North Carolina said in an impassioned floor speech last week that he was “shocked to read” the contents of the memo. “I would think that it would never happen in a country that loves freedom,” he lamented, as he joined calls for the memo’s release.

Over the weekend, Gaetz told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro — a Trump favorite who has earlier called for a “cleansing” at the Justice Department and the FBI — that disclosure of the classified House memo “will shock the conscience of the country”:

The right-wing-propaganda complex immediately went to work — aided, hilariously, by an army of Russian bots that made sure the hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo remained a trending topic on social media. Before long, Donald Trump Jr. became a leading advocate for the memo’s release, and WikiLeaks soon after jumped in on the action, promising up to $1 million in cryptocurrency to whoever had the courage to leak the document. On Tuesday — almost predictably —- Alex Jones announced on Twitter that he had come into possession of a copy of the Nunes memo. But, also predictably, it turned out that all he had was a court order that has been publicly available for several months...............

The real danger of a partisan, selectively assembled memo lies in the distorted picture it paints of how the FBI conducted its investigation of the Trump campaign. Secret surveillance warrants, for all their weaknesses, generally don’t just rely on a single piece of information; as the Times reported, the warrant on Carter Page “is said to have drawn on a variety of materials.” There’s no indication Nunes is committed to releasing all of the pertinent information behind the warrant, and releasing just the bits and pieces he likes would only tell a part of the story — the one he wants the public to believe. The potential for disinformation explains why the FBI, which almost never comments on political controversies, has asked to see the memo to implement corrective measures if needed. They’ve only gotten crickets. “The FBI has requested to receive a copy of the memo in order to evaluate the information and take appropriate steps if necessary. To date, the request has been declined,” an FBI spokesman told the Daily Beast.

Perhaps the most telling sign that this manufactured outrage cycle is meaningless is that it exploded just as Congress gave the FBI sweeping new powers to conduct its surveillance operations. And Trump signed this expansion of the deep state he so distrusts just as his Republican allies were decrying its abuses in a carefully orchestrated media blitz. As national security journalist Marcy Wheeler has observed, when the House voted on these expanded surveillance powers a week earlier, Nunes, Gaetz, and King were among the bill’s biggest cheerleaders. Do they really expect anyone to believe that they care about government abuse of civil liberties, when the bulk of the surveillance they just authorized doesn’t even require a warrant? :ohno:

I mean, regarding the Mueller investigation we're a point where illegality and federal indictments are "meh."

But, look over here!! Nunes claims he has evidence for some possible misconduct!

The problem with declassifying the memo, as I understand it, is that it is somewhat of an opinion piece that refers to source documents that are highly classified.

Oh, and to Skjelly, are you really trying to play the "look over here" card?

The House Freedom Caucus may be a bit loony, but at least it opposed the Nunes bill to reauthorize FISA 702 and supported the Amash alternative. :twocents:

It sounds like you’re the one saying “look over here” for the 100th time in this thread

Nunes is talking about FISA abuse, and implying that it may have occurred with the Steele dossier. But I haven’t seen it and neither has pretty much anybody else. I’ll evaluate it if and when it comes out. But what is in the memo is pure speculation at this point

Evidence is things we know - like actual text messages that actual people wrote

Evidence of actual malfeasance

The FBI has been dirty at least since Comey threw the election and Trump's whole family launders money for the Russian mafia - ideally the FBI and the Republican Administration will take each other down. Neither has any credibility and Trump couldn't tell the truth if you waterboarded him.

If Burr wrote this memo or at least verified it - I'd hold it in much higher regard. Burr knows Nunes's game though (see siggy).

Can't believe Trump nominated this obvious Deep Stater and the Republicans confirmed him without objection. :ohno:

That's why he wants to interview Trump, and that's why he's leveraging Flynn and Manafort.

All sideshows and "secret societies" aside, there is actually a real question as to whether Trump obstructed justice. His ego will prevent him from refusing to talk to Mueller, and then his mouth will lead him right into a perjury trap.

Which, as we all now know, will get you a disbarment but not an impeachment.
