Agreed. This country is founded on compromise, it's why we have a house and a senate - compromise between big states and small states.
You mean like all the compromise in the Obamacare bill that resulted in such broad bipartisan support?

THAT compromise? Or does compromise only apply to tea partiers? :roll: :roll:
It's the Tea Party that primaries against moderates. :ohno:

Kind of hard to expect bipartisan support for anything if anyone who dares act bipartisan gets voted out by his own party.

This country is fucked financially, and only a small percentage of elected officials are smart and/or brave enough to face it and admit it. The rest of them have their heads buried up their collective asses, pretending the problem will go away on its own.

I'm tired of Wolf Blitzer.

Explain to me why all states are winner take all in the EC?

I couldn't agree more. We need to balance our budget - and that means sacrifice - by everyone. We may need to cut spending and raise taxes. Unfortunately, any politician that runs on that platform will lose - unless both parties make it part of their platform.

That won't happen because they would rather win elections than do what is best for the nation.

It's all over but the shouting.

Which state puts Obama over the top? Colorado? Oregon? Nevada?

That easy...the EC makes sure the big states don't have all the say. Notice how California is larger yet nobody pays it any attention?

Nobody pays it any attention because Obama had it won before the day started, yet Super Hornets vote is worth more than mine.

If you're in a small state, you WANT the electoral college.

Montana=3 electoral votes/1,000,000 people = 1 vote/333,333 people
Arizona =11 electoral votes/6,500,000 people = 1 vote/600,000 (roughly)
California=55 electoral votes/38,000,000 people = 1 vote/700,000 (roughly)

Small states are disproportionately represented, which is a good thing.

IIRC - Florida usually reports better for the GOP early, and the Dems do better later. Romney need to get a lead early. Going to be tough in Florida now.
It happened the opposite in 2000. Remember, FL was called for Gore before it was uncalled. Conk stronghold in the panhandle is in the central time zone so reports an hr after the rest of the state.

No it didn't. Gore was trailing by a lot when the race was called in his favor. He began to close, but never quite came all the way back.

That can't be right. Way too early to call. History should tell us not to rely on exit polls.
I saw FOX calling state a senate race this evening (can't remember who) for a donk with like 7% reporting, and the conk was up 55-44. There have been other examples of states and senate races called for both parties with only a fraction reporting, and sometimes the person called for not even in the lead. I don't understand how they can do that.

They shouldn't. They do it based on exit polls. but exit polls are why Florida was called for Gore in 2000.

Better to count the votes than rely on polls where the respondent might say anything.
