The folks on the left should be just as pissed at the media for what they are trying to do
They lighten his skin...
Remember when OJ had his skin darkened to make him more sinister looking on the magazine cover?
That was also wrong
Just be honest don't try to influence my thinking with a phony picture
I only became interested in this when I read that they were using a picture of the dead kid when he was 12 not a current picture...maybe because his current pictures make him look like a thug.
Obama got involved again when he should have stayed out of it. He's now selling Obama hoodies...he really is
The kids mom is lining up to cash in along with the usual race hustlers
Calling him a white Hispanic...desperate to make it a black white thing...very sad
There would be a round of boners if he was a white member of the tea party and the dead teen was gay.
But that's not the truth
If the Zimmerman character is a murderer I would be for the death penalty. If he's killed by a mob and he was justified in killing the lad (time will tell) then I would want those that made his address public prosecuted.

Re: Do these items make me look suspicious?
Facts:
Kid trespassed.
Vigilante overreacted.
Nobody is 100% sure what happened in the seconds leading up to the shot.
Only eyewitness says the kid was walloping the vigilante.
Shit that doesn't matter in determining self-defense vs murder:
If the kid was connected to drugs.
What color either person was.
What either person's prior records are/were.
Bottom line:
The vigilante was stupid for pressing the issue.
Should he be arrested? - undetermined
Will he be arrested to appease the masses? - likely
Will this get far worse before it gets better? - absofuckinglutely
A lot of you made yourselves look like asses in this thread.
Lastly, the vigilante was obviously nervous and likely sweating profusely. I don't know about him, but when my hands get wet, they shrivel up like crazy. What I think he said on the 911 tape is "fucking prunes", and he's so right.

I agree with most of what you said, but in murder/self defense cases in general, wouldn't drug use or a rap sheet by one or both parties be relevant?93henfan wrote:Facts:

Re: Do these items make me look suspicious?
I think that once the professional investigators get all the facts in this case, there will be an appropriate law enforcement response.
Right now, the media is trying this case in the court of public opinion, and if the investigation turns up something different from what the popular speculation is, expect some things to burn in FL. That will be on the media but of course few will draw that conclusion.
Personally, I think from what few facts I can tell, Zimmerman is going to be culpable to some degree, but how far is hard to tell.

Re: Do these items make me look suspicious?
At this point the most that we will all see is a wrongful death lawsuit. The standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt" is already FUBAR'd by the Sanford Police department, so I don't expect any criminal charges to stick.
But beyond that is the social issue that the fact is if I wear a hoodie in the wrong neighborhood, I could get shot. There was a time when the "wrong neighborhood" mean low-income residental areas (i.e. the "ghetto"), but now it apparently means higher (and I say higher because the term, gated community, is used EXTREMELY loosely these days) class neighborhoods as well. Not to mention local police will always be watching me as well. All because of the clothes I wear and the color of my skin.
Ain't profiling grand?

Profiling isn't necessary in a perfect world. Not saying it's fair, but it's natural. Florida's gun laws certainly are strange. Currently on trial for a 2010 shooting...
http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafe ... co/1124587
http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafe ... co/1124587
About 3:45 p.m. Sunday, as James played basketball with his daughter, a 14-year-old boy asked him if it was okay to skateboard on the court. James told him that was fine.
Dooley, who apparently had been watching the exchange from inside his home across the street, marched outside with a gun in his waistband to demand that the skateboarder get off the court, the Sheriff's Office said.
James defended the boy, so Dooley started arguing with him. Dooley turned to walk away, and that's when James yelled after him, questioning him about the gun sticking out of his pants, the Sheriff's Office said.
Dooley turned back and pulled out the gun, deputies said.
James lunged toward Dooley in an apparent attempt to disarm him and they struggled, falling to the ground. The gun fired, striking James in the chest.

I'm playing the role of Switzerland here.
All I have to say is watching this fiasco over the past couple days/weeks it's a shame number one that the kid was killed. But it's also a shame as to how we react to things as a society. Al Sharpton? Black Panthers? MSNBC on one side? Fox News on the other side? The character assassination of the kid? Obama mouthing off prematurely again?
The facts are, we don't know all the facts. But people sure choose sides awfully quick.

If the kid's destination was a home within the gated community, then I stand corrected. I thought he was "cutting through" and that the neighborhood had over 400 reported crimes in the past year alone. Honestly, I don't give a shit about this case other than the fact it's making my black friends on Facebook act a bit less than their normal cordial selves. I find it sad that the media has that effect on the common man.dbackjon wrote:How was he trespassing?93henfan wrote:Facts:

I mean, white people are wrongly shot dead on a daily basis by minorities and we don't start rallying around the victim. It must be nice to have this happen so infrequently to your group that you can rally around the cause.

Pretty sure he was visiting friends or family and was not trespassing. Also keep in mind that Zimmerman was a self appointed sheriff who called 911 some 40 times in the recent past.93henfan wrote:If the kid's destination was a home within the gated community, then I stand corrected. No doubt that Zimmerman is a douchenozzle, BUT... it all really boils down to what happened in the 30 seconds or so before the kid was shot. If we can never find out with any certainty what happened, then can we convict based on that?kalm wrote:Pretty sure he was visiting friends or family and was not trespassing. Well, apparently chico the crime dog knew about the empty baggie deal at school, and if you put skittles in a dirty little plastic baggie, it could look like some really whacko drugs and stuff.
Moral of the story here is, if you gonna look like a gangsta and openly carry psycho colored druggy looking pills in a dirty little baggie you had better not bring an iced tea to a gunfight.
