I don't trust Christie. After this episode I trust him even less. It takes low character to target people for political reasons, and low character always shines through. Christie maybe didn't know about this specific incident, but he had to have had at least a small clue that his people were capable of this.

The last thing we need is another President with low character underlings siccing the IRS, EPA, DOJ or HHS on people he doesn't like politically.

I'll be voting for the person who doesn't have a D or an R after their name.
Not saying anything new here but if you do that you'll be voting for someone who has absolutely no shot to win and would do just as well not to vote at all. Don't even waste the effort to get to the poll.

That may be a sad reality but it's the reality. You are indeed wasting your vote if you do that.

I can see not voting. Like let's say you're a pro life Republican and the Republicans nominate a pro choice candidate. I can see just not voting because that could be a factor in letting the Republican Party know it's not getting the "pro life" vote if it nominates a "pro choice" candidate. And the Republican Party has not shot if it doesn't get the "pro life" vote. That kind of thing.

But there wouldn't be any point in voting for anybody else either in such a case. I guess you can do it just for fun. But there's no real point to it.

Nope, you've got it exactly backwards. What there's no point in doing is continuing to vote for the major party candidates---who differ from each other ONLY by the letter behind their name---and expecting one or the other of them to actually be different THIS TIME. I'm through with that...and slowly but surely, a growing number of Americans are ALSO through with that. The Emperor has no clothes, it turns out.

The two established parties can go fuck themselves, as far as I'm concerned. It'll be a cold day in hell before I vote for any of them in the future.

Whether the Democratic Party is in power or the Republican Party is in power does make a difference. It may not make as much of a difference as one would like. But it makes a difference.

For example: No Democratic President would ever have nominated a Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. No Republican President would ever have nominated a Ruth Bader Ginsgerg to the Supreme Court.

If the Republicans had been in total control over the past 120 years there would be no Social Security system, no Medicaid, no Medicare. I personally wish that were the case. Others are glad that those programs are there. But they would not be there if the Democrats had not pushed for them and succeeded in getting them.

More recently, if McCain had won the 2008 Presidential election and/or if Republicans had won at least one house of Congress then, the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) would never have been passed.

It does make a difference. I can understand wishing there were other alternatives. But whether the Democrats or the Republicans are in control does make a difference and when you vote for neither you really are failing to have any impact on which way it goes.

+1

Christie is one of those guys that sounds good from the little bit you see/hear about him. For example, many people like the idea of a blunt politician that tells the various special interest groups to shove it. But if you start digging beyond the 30 second sound bites you find that he is not as great as he first appears.

CID, while I agree with you that the childish revenge games are BS, they are small issues. Focus on the big issues. Jobs, government spending, a healthcare system that works, etc. I want a President that will tackle the major problems and not ignore them. In my mind, Christie will do this because he has a track record of doing this. There are probably others out there that have a strong track record as well, but I have not determined who they are yet. Don't through the fat baby out with the bath water just yet.

Regarding this incident, let's just assume for a second that he had no knowledge of what was going on. He did fire people that he really liked. Who else would do this?

Yep....donk logic at it's finest: Cavort with known/convicted terrorists? No problem--you're perfect to be president.

Fiddling while Americans are gunned down in Libya? What difference, really, does it make? You'll be the NEXT Donk candidate for president...

But godforfuckingbid your staff shut down a bridge for 3 days in a retaliatory political move. It doesn't matter that Obama claimed to have no knowledge of Fast & Furious, no knowledge of NSA spying, no knowledge of IRS targeting conservative groups, and no knowledge of Obamacare website problems....you, Chris Christie, are NOT allowed to use the "I didn't know" defense. It doesn't matter that Obama has NEVER fired the head of ANY of the above departments. It doesn't matter that Obama let the IRS chief retire as planned, and Hildabeast walked away unscathed to prepare for 2016. You, sir, despite holding your Deputy Chief of Staff accountable and firing her IMMEDIATELY have NO business running for ANY public office EVER again and should slink away in shame.
