Jon, I'm calling it like I see it. Doesn't matter that it's Obama. It IS politics as usual and if you are too far up his ass to admit it, that's your problem.dbackjon wrote:LOL - read up on the history of the name, how the State of Alaska's been trying to get this changed since shortly after they became a state, and how a Congressman from Ohio has used a procedural move to block it since.
And as far as politics - was he supposed to announce it during a trip to Delawhere? This time of announcement/timing happens all the time. From all Presidents. Just funny to see the blind sheeple hating on anything Obama does.
REPUBLICAN Senator Murowski personally asked Obama to get this done - and he did. It means a lot to the people of Alaska. They still hate Obama, this doesn't change that one bit, but they are happy with the change

Not at all - the whole blocking of the name change by the Ohio Representative was politics as usual - this was cutting through that, a move that generated heat from Ohio (a battleground state) and applause from Alaska (a red state).
And do you consider anything a politician does as politics as usual?

So clear it up for me Jon. I'm certainly not outraged by this. I just find Obama's timing "politics as usual", same way blocking it was. You don't see it the same way. Re: Great job Obama!!!
Speaking of Alaska...good read.
"Two islands in the Bering Straits, one Russian, one American, are barely two miles apart. Only a few military observation posts remain on the Russian island, but a community of Eskimos lives on the US island. After the Cold War they hoped to resume regular contact with Russian relatives - but now the chances seem to be fading again."
http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34066393" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"The much shorter northern shipping routes which go through the Bering Strait are also opening up. Five years ago, just four ships took the Arctic route to Europe instead of the much longer one through the Panama Canal. Three years later, 71 ships carried 1.3 million tonnes on the same route and by 2020, it's expected the annual cargo will be 30 million tonnes.
At the same time there are long-standing, ambitious plans to improve cross-border links, including building a 64-mile-long tunnel underneath the Bering Strait. The Kremlin officially approved it in 2011 and it has support from the American side. "We like the idea," says Craig Fleener, Arctic adviser to the Alaskan State government. "We're barely connected to the rest of the world and our infrastructure is limited. This would give us direct access to the Asian markets."'
Who knew?

Jon didn't used to be this way. But these days, he just follows the Liberal masses over the cliff because his dick is attached to the rear end of the lemming in front of him.

Partisan? So are CNBC, CNN, NPR, and the rest of the main stream media. Facts be damned, they'll report what their audience wants to hear and distort their message to get the results they want.Gil Dobie wrote:Well, I agree with Wedgie, it's news for partisans.Cluck U wrote:

Where it gets really stupid, and allows a peek into the ignorance of the poster, is when someone blurts out that one particular station is any more partisan than another.
It is like watching a really fat kid point and laugh at another kid because that kid is fat.
