These things take time, owning deadly weapons is a big responsibility; hell you can't just walk in to a booth and vote on election day either. Funny how the same crowd that wants an extensive genaeology work up for anybody who isn't white casting a vote is in favor of handing out complimentary pistols with your purchase of a lawn mower.

15 min to 1/2 hr for paperwork and instacheck. No valid reason to take longer than that.houndawg wrote:According to the article, she was in the process of buying one. I guess you missed it.GrizFanStuckInUtah wrote:

No I haven't and it's pretty obvious we've put a lot more restriction on the right to keep and bear arms than we do on the right to vote. And before you argue remember that the Constitutional Right is the right to "keep and bear arms." It's not specific to any particular kind of weapon. And it's a reference to military weapons.houndawg wrote:Not yet. JSO has left the building and tman hasn't arrived.Baldy wrote: Hyperbolic Drama Queen Alert.
Another And: It doesn't say it's contingent upon anybody being in a militia. It just gives the need for a militia as a reason for respecting the right.

Re: Gun Control Zealots Killing Law Abiding Jersey Residents
Been a long time since I purchased a firearm from a store in CA (about 10 years), but back then, the procedure was:
1. Upon completing the purchase, the salesperson stepped aside and a different employee stepped in, explained gun ownership laws for 5 minutes, then handed me a two sided Federal form pertaining to criminal and mental history.
2. Upon completing the form at the counter, I was instructed to follow a painted stripe on the floor to a small room adjacent to the sales floor, reminded that I was not to speak to anyone, make any phone calls, or leave the line or room to go into the store.
3. Once in the room, with one 4'x6' table, one chair on the far side of the table, and a video camera on a tripod pointed at the chair.
4. Once seated, I waited approx. 10 min. when yet another employee entered, immediately advising me to NOT speak unless responding to his questions. He then produced a three page State form which also had criminal and mental history questions, but also education, marital, detailed residency, and POLITICAL questions (had I ever advocated overthrowing the government, etc...).
5. Employee #3 re-entered the room, asked a series of questions, basically the criminal/mental health questionson the previos two firm, then what was my intended use of the firearm (I said hunting, I DON'T think, "Giving my money grubbing, ex-wife a colonoscopy" would have been the correct answer).
6. Finally, I was fingerprinted, and photographed with the video camera before being told to wait 5 minutes before leaving (clock on the wall). I was given a sheet with the date and time I could pickup the firearm, with a caveat that I had to pickup the firearm within 72 hour of the specified date and time or the sale would be canceled.
The employees were excessively serious during the transaction.
Since that folly, I've restricted my acquisitions/sales to private parties (still have to go through an FLL/State licensed dealer, although without the hoop-jump), or an out-of-state dealer. (Usually in Nevada).
