Gannon, if you listen to the news, you would think these kids were smart before the test was given. These kids had parents who would not even attend the annual parent teacher conference. These kids were doomed from the start. If the parents don't give a damn about the education of THEIR child, the teacher can only do so much. But that bring said, these teachers knew batter that to do this. In fact, one of the teachers who was found guilty, is a good friend of mind. When I would out he was involved I cursed his azz out on the parking lot after a meeting we attended together. His excuse was that they wanted to get their bonuses. The test scores in APS are very very low. Most of the parents are single mothers. One hand I can understand, but then they knew better. Like they say in the Army, you lead from the front. How do we talk about honor, pride and integrity and you have the teachers who are actively cheating on a damn test. Freaking sad all the way around. But these fvckers knew betterGannonFan wrote:They didn't want to cop a plea like all the other implicated teachers did. Once you make them take you to court then you risk what happened. All a ploy by teachers' unions to prevent ever having performance-based pay...fucking morons. Sold their souls and their integrity (and their careers) for a few thousand dollars. Have fun digging fucking ditches for the rest of your life, asswipes.

The main thing I'm complaining about is using the RICO Act for stuff like this. I'll go ahead and use Wikipedia because I think it's accurate in this statement:
I mean c'mon. You use THAT Act to go after teachers who manipulated standardized test scores? I guess I'll read the story again so I can find out why it is even a Federal issue. But, good GRIEF, even if I see the Federal angle it's still going to be over the top.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racket_(crime" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)The purpose of the RICO Act was stated as "the elimination of the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations operating in interstate commerce". S.Rep. No. 617, 91st Cong., 1st Sess. 76 (1968).

Hey, I agree. These are grown-ups with professional degrees. I don't doubt that they had really tough students with tough circumstances that making education extrememly challenging, if not impossible. But it doesn't make the cheating they did okay. You're right, they knew better and now they are suffering the consequences of their actions.mrklean wrote:Gannon, if you listen to the news, you would think these kids were smart before the test was given. Kind of underscores Klean's point about the bankers who crashed the economy still running loose when they should have been tied to a truck bumper and dragged up and down Wall St. to the cheers of the populace..JohnStOnge wrote:The main thing I'm complaining about is using the RICO Act for stuff like this. Still have to have committed a crime. It's all fine to cry about bankers crashing the economy (and neglecting to mention that plenty of us were also more than happily profitting off of a bubble economy, especially in real estate), but they had to do something willfully wrong or something so stupid that you could charge them with negligence. Other than the economy crashing down around us, there wasn't a lot of evidence of either of those things. Doesn't stop people front shouting against the wind, though.houndawg wrote:Kind of underscores Klean's point about the bankers who crashed the economy still running loose when they should have been tied to a truck bumper and dragged up and down Wall St. to the cheers of the populace..JohnStOnge wrote:The main thing I'm complaining about is using the RICO Act for stuff like this. Willful ignorance. There's plenty of evidence of fraud and fines payed out. See Jamie Dimon's admission I posted earlier in the thread. Just because your boy Obama has decided to not prosecute any of the bankers doesn't mean that thieves should not go to jail. Obama is your boy...and he is proving that he doesn't give a crap about you.mrklean wrote:OK Dumb FVCK!, First, no teacher who has to put up with the crap in APS needs to go to jail. Take their teacher certification away and place them on probation, but to put them in jail for 20 years. These Repukes who jacked up our economy in 2008 are not in jail. Dick Chaney and George Bush who lied to start the second Gulf War is not in jail. You are never a teacher in the Atlanta Public school system, just a glorified social worker.Baldy wrote:44 schools involved, 180 "educators", and the ringleader received $500K in payouts. kkkleany is just pissed because they're all black. If the criminals were white, he would have volunteered to drive the paddy wagon and drop them off at the prison.
The teachers and administrators stole money...they should do jail time. They fraudulently posted results, results that were used to defend a pathetic school system, and results that were used to trumpet their methods in other schools systems (that failed, because they didn't know about the cheating part).
They were not remorseful...throw them in jail and let them rot.
As far as the Atlanta public school system teachers being glorified social workers...well, duh. Look what they have to deal with.

Wait, and your momma said he was a nice guy...huggable teddy bear.
You hang around thieves and thugs. No wonder you don't want to have anybody suffer consequences for their actions.

Who should be going to prison are people like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters and shit stains like them.
I've posted this video 100 times, but it underscores the very root of the financial crisis.
The Government Regulator in the video testifying before Congress telling them straight to their faces that Fannie and Freddie are cooking the books. Frank and Waters (all the Donks) start piling on the Regulator and double down telling us how great Fannie and Freddie are...how great of a job they are doing, etc. Sickening since we know what happened after, and that fuck sticks like Dodd, Frank and the like get to retire so nicely at our expense.

I was referring to YOUR willful ignorance on the matter. and

You're a seriously ignorant knucklehead if you want to pin it on one party.
And as Gannon noted, it's not as if every builder, realtor, mortgage company, loan officer, and bank weren't readily lined up at the trough.
BTW, Fannie, Freddie, and the FHA were only responsible for 25% of subprime and alt a loans. But I know, those private sector lenders were just dragged kicking and screaming into the bubble, held at gunpoint to make loans to crack heads.
Next, you're going to tell me it was really the CRA that did us in.
