I suppose it's possible that the young man came upon that thought process on his own. But, to me, there are just two many standard Liberal/Progressive talking points in it. I think what we are looking at is the result of the sometimes subtle and sometimes overt brainwashing that goes on in the United States educational establishment nowadays. Especially the Higher Education establishment.

Who am I to stand from my perch of privilege, surrounded by million-dollar homes and paying for a $60,000 education, to condemn these young men as “thugs?” It’s precisely this kind of “otherization” that fuels the problem.
