The Donks are just too DISHONEST to admit the obvious!

If big business had acted as responsible stewards of the land, air and water we would not need an EPA. Unfortunately they failed to adequately regulate themselves, so the government has to do it. The EPA may be heavy handed at times, but given the choice of unregulated big business or a heavy handed EPA, the EPA is the lesser evil.

We've seen what socialism in it's mostly unchecked form does to America (see Detroit and the Auto Industry Obama-care) and we've seen what Capitalism unchecked does to America (Wall Street at the top and Wal-Mart-ization at the ugly bottom)

and honestly I'm not sure which is WORSE for America
because ultimately all of the above is what America has become like it or not
Un-checked Socialism ripping apart one end and Capitalism ripping apart the other

You can kill somebody with Chocolate cake (I'm not kidding) and America really needs to eat it's vegetables but nobody is willing to do that in the face of mountains of chocolate cake
Well said, Hippie.

In the end, it's about extremism versus self-discipline. There are many analogies which extol the virtues of "balance", long-term OVER short-term principles, altruism, and ultimately, a passion to leave a better world for future generations.

Greed, hedonism and selfishness are human failings found in both so-called "conservatives" AND "liberals"...

The EPA and Nth degree enforcement of the Clean Air and Clean Water act, absent scientific research verifying harm, are the primary factors causing the GDP decline since 1972.

"Environmentalism" has been subverted for imposing political agenda via caveat, again, absent scientific foundation.

Turn off your TV. Research post WWII U.N. policies, Julian Huxley, UNICEF, and WWF.

That is, of course, if you really DO care and aren't just pulling a JellyKlanDawg obfuscation.

BTW, your challenge of my assertion would imply that you support extremism and Nth degree politics.

No?

Sure it has, and so has business. It's not like business doesn't spend millions on lobbyists. Right now, here in PA, the complaint is that there isn't enough regulation regarding fracking. Who knows what they are putting in the ground; and PA doesn't tax them.

Plenty of blame to go around, you're the one putting it all in one place.

Re-read above, BH. This is about extremism. There's plenty to spread.around. Knee-jerk attacks only validate my assertion.

Pat Buchanon and Ben Stein are among my favorite conservatives. Sad to to find out the Nixon administration were a bunch of liberal extremists. :ohno:

Oh well, at least I can now catch native red band rainbow trout in the Spokane River while the industries that they regulated are still employing people.

Hmmm... Well you see I'm a Liberal because I believe that is the superior framework from which to approach a problem / Liberalism (by my calculation) is the best vector of approach. However this does not mean that it always yields the proper conclusions - it's just the superior starting point.

This is of course seen as ridiculous by those who approach problems from the Conservative launching point when searching for a solution, they are quick to point out the flaws of Liberalism in extreme - but - you gotta start from somewhere and NOBODY is truly flatly objective... It is impossible to launch into a discussion of an idea or problem from a neutral Liberal/Conservative bias
(Nobody John Stwrong, and that goes doubly true for you)

It's easy to misunderstand me when I say Liberal mind
It's not entirely a political statement - I'm talking more philosophical than exact political

So Progressivism isn't really what I'm pointing at when I'm making this statement
Progressiveism in practice is pretty clearly just thinly glossed over Socialism

What I'm talking about is the Liberal philosophical starting point...
