Senate.gov adds qualifiers to Bill of Rights

Post by DSUrocks07 »

http://iroots.org/2013/10/15/senate-not ... mendments/ apologizes for slow link :ohno:
We noticed something interesting on the Senate’s official website about the Constitution: It tells a lot of lies.

According to our Senate, freedom of speech and the press “can be limited for…certain forms of state censorship” and whether or not the Second Amendment protects the right of the individual to bear arms is a matter for debate.

You do realize the Courts have already ruled that the freedom of speech and the press can already be limited - they are not absolute. As for the individual bearing of arms, yes, that's a little bit less up for debate. What form the actual bearing takes may be debatable, but I don't think anyone, Court or otherwise, is anywhere close to debating that for the foreseeable future.

In the future, when Americans look back at this administration, they will shake their head and realize this is the reason the country is a mess.

Came in to post... but, Gannonfan pretty much has it covered.

Even the epitome of a conservative Supreme Court judge like Scalia believes the 2nd amendment is not an unlimited right to bear arms.

Really...do we want the legislative branch to just ignore the judicial branch all together?

To be fair, senate.gov is not run by the executive branch. The Democrats are the majority party of the Senate so the Dems in the Senate likely control how the website looks but this one is not on the President.
