Re: Tesla sales banned
I think the author is jumping to conclusions. I don't think it's about Tesla. Tesla is not a threat to car dealerships. The bill, as described, appears to be aimed at protecting car dealerships.
I mean think about it guys. It is very, VERY unlikely that North Carolina car dealers are worried about Tesla in particular. Tesla is just not going to cost them a significant volume of sales. I think they are worried about the concept of people buying directly from manufacturers and cutting them out. I think they're interested in nipping that threat in the bud. I guarantee you that, in the final analysis, they're more worried about gasoline and/or diesel powered vehicles eventually being sold directly to consumers on line than they are about the minimal sales Tesla is going to get.

More good news for Tesla:
And:
http://money.cnn.com/2013/08/07/investi ... tml?iid=EL" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Musk's Tesla Motors (TSLA) reported a surprise second-quarter profit on Wednesday, blowing past estimates on sales. The electric car maker reported earnings of 20 cents a share, excluding special items, after analysts predicted a loss of 17 cents. The stock surged 13% in premarket trading Thursday.
And:
http://money.cnn.com/2013/08/08/autos/t ... ce=cnn_bin" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;NHTSA gave the Model S its top five-star rating for each safety category -- front-end crash, side crash and rollover crash. NHTSA had not previously tested the Model S, which came out last year, or Tesla's other model, the Tesla Roadster.
While triple 5-star ratings are not rare, there are plenty of models that do not get that top score. And the ratings are a particularly impressive accomplishment for a new automaker that has not had years of vehicle designs and safety measures to fall back on.

Electric works for Tesla because it's all they do. The big internationals and the Big 3 here don't really want to make a great electric car, lest it cannibalize their higher profit generating platforms. And (no I don't wear a tinfoil hat) if you don't think big oil doesn't do everything they can to encourage the bigs to keep pumping out shitmobiles that get less than 40mpg, you're in denial.
