19 Year Old Kid Bitch Slaps Stephen Moore

Post by kalm »

...Bernie Sanders and Bill Maher provide the mop-up.

http://www.upworthy.com/conservative-ec ... ts-schoole" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Facts have a really inconvenient knack for debunking inane talking points. Stephen Moore, conservative economist and Wall Street Journal columnist learned that the hard way. At 1:16, 19-year-old Zack Kopplin, science advocate and history student, offers up the only response one should give whenever a pundit starts talking about science cuts. EPIC. And at 2:25, a senator and Bill Maher both fact-check Mr. Moore's spin again.

And if you are wondering why we funded snail mating habits, it's to prevent children in developing countries from getting parasitic worms and stuff. It would be awesome if you shared this so more people knew that.
It's amazing that after 30 years of being wrong, Stephen Moore, Grover Norquist, and Art Laffer have any traction at all these days, much less deserve a spot on the WSJ editorial board. :ohno:

The youtube version is longer but less choppy.

I stopped listening when Maher makes the comparison to flat-Earthers. FFS.

If that kid was a real advocate for science education, he'd make sure people understand the difference between observational studies and experiments instead of obsessing about climate science and eeeeeeeeeeevil creationists. Maher clearly does not understand that difference. :coffee:

So sad that this passes for reasonable political discourse in our society today. Both sides are convinced that the other side is dumber than a rock and that the other side isn't worth even listening to, except for when setting up a punchline or some other version of derision.

The irony, and tragedy, is, of course, that there are plenty of people on both sides who are dumber than rocks. Hence our real problem going forward - just too much stupid out there. :ohno:

Well, the people who actually watch that show are about 30 IQ points behind the average mongoloid.

You know that mongoloids are stereotypically high IQ scorers, right? :?

I like Bill Maher, I think he is pretty funny. I don't agree with everything he says, but at times he can be thought provoking.

He tries to get conservatives on his show, not an easy task since he has an overwhelmingly pro-lib audience. Moore is one of his regular guests, last Friday wasn't one of his better nights. In fact, last Friday wasn't one of Maher's better nights, most of the show was Moore arguing with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, too much arguing and not enough laughs IMHO.

To Moore's credit it takes some stones to go on the show and he's typically very good spirited about the debates. Maher isn't must see TV and as I've said before his monologue is usually low grade comedy, but I agree it's a pretty entertaining show other than that .

The guests make the show, and last Friday was a bad mix. Sanders was annoying the way he kept putting his hand in front of Abigail Huntsman's face. He was so rude that I stopped listening to what he had to say.

To Maher's credit, he usually tries to the let conservatives talk but there was too much bickering last week and Maher was clearly frustrated with Moore. Moore did a poor job of articulating his position, but part of that was Sanders constantly cutting him off.

That's too bad. I like Bernie Sanders but he might be coming a little unhinged. Tough to blame him though.

Why are we funding any research related to parasitic worms in developing countries? Are we now the global parasite police? Can we afford to be?

We're looking to weaponize them. It's part of the defense budget, you don't want to cut defense do you? That is unpatriotic.

The thread title didn't sink in with me right away. Got a little ahead of myself, and thought someone finally punched Michael Moore in his face!

I'm sorry the above event hasn't happened yet... :twocents:

Love Maher's show. The kid was easily the most informed guest. Moore and Sanders were just annoying. I would two hole Huntsman.
