If my neighbor has an abortion, good for them, I don't give a shit.
If my neighbor is homosexual, good for them, I don't give a shit.
If my neighbor supports legalization of marijuana, good for them, I don't give a shit.
If my neighbor is a religious nut, good for them, I don't give a shit.
If my neighbor is a DEM/REP/IND/whatever, good for them, I don't give a shit.
The debate is about the protection of rights for ones unable to defend themselves. Isn't that what liberals typically use as their stance? Why is this different? The length of time?

Tell me the exact day and time when it becomes viable. If you can't, they you have no ground on which to stand.

Only for the "pro-choice" side. We don't argue the choice of murder in other cases. The core of the arguement is that one side believes it is murder, the other side either doesn't, or doesn't stand by it's own thinking.

Yes, a couple:

1) Referring to a fetus which is inside the womb as an "infant" is just semantics.

2) My "cute" point highlights the grey nature of this debate as either side could use it to defend their position.

3) But if the issue is indeed black and white, why don't we investigate and prosecute women who unknowingly abort or damage the fetus when they didn't know they were pregnant. I mean, there really should be no grace period here if it's a black and white issue and life begins at conception. Anytime a women has unprotected sex she should go in the next day, or perhaps the next hour and get tested to see if she's pregnant, right? Or, to be on the safe side she should abstain from any actions or consumptions which might injure the fetus - just to be on the safe side. Makes sense right? If she doesn't, we obviously need to investigate and if necessary, prosecute her.

How about choice

If a state votes against abortion you can go to a child killing state that voted yes...choice

Earliest a baby has ever been delivered is 21 weeks 6 days. Even then it's only "viable" with extensive and expensive medical equipment and procedures. Y'all ok with publicly funding all that for uninsured mothers?

But, this is all a bit of a red herring. The VAST majority of abortions occur in the first trimester, and I would have no problem with legislation that limited abortion to the first trimester, except in exceptional cases (and, most late term abortions are in exceptional cases anyway).

The first trimester is up to the 13th week. The fetus is in no way viable in the 13th week.

How about choice

If you don't like Obama, you can go to a country where he is not President.

The "if you don't like it, you can leave" option isn't practical. It's costly to move, and where ever you go there will be things that you don't like.

Good idea because the precise date of conception is always known.

Nice argument.

Here is something that is down to your level.

You don't have any sperm. You get sperm from someone else, and he puts the sperm together with your wife's egg, it works, so he implants it. The next day it is expelled.

Do you take charges against the doctor because it was his fault he killed a fetus?...all 12 cells of it?

I wish there was as much time and energy devoted to reducing unwanted pregnancies as there is to the abortion "issue." Most abortions are the result of an unwanted pregnancy. You minimize those, and you minimize abortions.

Hen is too much of a brainwashed goon to realize the catholic church is responsible for a significant percentage of abortions through its dumb stance on birth control. :dunce:

Planned Parenthood and similar orgs have prevented countless abortions and is much more important to the struggle to end abortion than the catholic church.

If we just teach abstinence, the problem should be taken care of. ;)

It's a good thing animals can't get pregnant from humans.

Or can they? :?

The problem is, even in this country, with birth control (by any means) adundantly available, and with both birth control and human sexuality taught in schools on a pretty widespread basis, there really is no getting around the "stupid" factor. Despite all these resources and education, a large majority of people are pretty stupid and they either use the birth control wrong or, most of the time, just don't use it. Because they're dumb, or stupid, or drunk, or all three. Throw lazy in there too. How we go about combatting that is a big unanswered question - we already have flooded the market with birth control and education and that hasn't worked as well as it should have. How do we combat stupid?

Holy hyperbole Batman. Of course, that's to be expected; that's the way it usually goes in this debate. What next, rape or incest?

BTW, did I say fetus = "infant"?
