And, blueballs.... weren't you the one threatening to boycott Georgia Southern for having Bill Ayers speak? :coffee:

:jack:
Correct on both accounts... but you missed on drawing a parallel.

I won't donate to GSU as a private citizen because of their stance on Ayers, which is my right.

To draw a parallel on my deciding where to make charitable donations with the mayor of an American city seeking to deny an otherwise lawful operation a business license because of constitutionally protected opinions of it's founder severly misses the mark.

Emanuel as a public official has NO right to deny Chick Fil A the opportunity to lawfully conduct business. On the other hand, I as a private citizen have every right to decide where and to whom I make charitable donations.

HUGE difference...

No doubt, but that is his constitutional right as well. I still have yet to see anyone show that Chick-fil-a denies employment or service to LGBT.
And I still have yet to see where anyone has accused them of this. But they do monetarily support groups with a strong anti-gay agenda.

Yes, the Chicken guy is just a private idiot, albeit with lots of money. Rahm is a governmental idiot with the power to make laws. Much more dangerous. It's not that he can truly effect any permanent change at his level, but it's that we are talking about the former Chief of Staff of a whitehouse admininstration, who seems to think it's OK to take an action through the government to restrict someones business because of his personal opinions. Scary that he was that close to that level of power. I don't like when someone in government makes a grab to restrict liberties like this, even when it is a cause I agree with. Reeks. :ohno:

Agreed on Rahm. But private businesses do this all the time too. Sometimes it's to specifically restrict a competing business.

Who cares!! They are selling chicken, not killing baby seals. For christ's sake, if I went around worrying about the opinions of every single vendor from whom I purchased my goods and services, I'm sure I could find something objectionable about every single one of them. I don't eat fast food chicken because it's crap, but I don't really give a shit if the guys who fried it is an anti-Semite, and certainly don't think he should be fired from cooking chicken just because he supports anti-semitic causes. :coffee:

I didn't say anyone here had, and I never said that they didn't support groups that were anti-gay.

My post was simply to establish that Chick-fil-a has not violated any constitutional rights.

I feel like some of the LGBT community is going about it the wrong way by boycotting Chic-fil-a. The kind of folks that are against gay marriage are usually deathly afraid of what they don't know or understand. Instead of boycotting Chic-fil-a, making these folks rally around the restaurant, the gay community should be flooding Chic-fil-a's with THEIR business. Nothing makes ignorant folks run faster than having to share space with folks they don't like. Then, Chic-fil-a can decide to start catering to the gay community or risk losing their business, which is the only business they have left since the bigots won't be coming back.

Holy fuck. That dude standing infront of Chik-fil-a with a giant cross is all kinds of hilarious.

How long until these evangelicals swarming Chik-fil-a see Jesus in a fried chicken patty?

Not seeing that picture at that link right now but I'm sure Chik-Fil-A is laughing all the way to the bank.

It wasn't just evangelicals swarming Chik-Fil-A. There's a lot of sentiment related to having a guy express his opinion and get attacked for it like the Chik-Fil-A guy did . I was listening to one radio talk show host who was doing a remote from a Chik-Fil-A today repeatedly saying that he didn't care one way or another about "gay marriage" but when you have mayors of cities threatening a business because a guy expressed his opinion on the marriage issue that's over the line.

The egalitarian dogmatists over-reached this time. Well, they over reach all the time. But this time is was really bad.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Rahm Emanuel is trying his best to block Chick-fil-A from expanding in Chicago because, according to him, they don't share Chicago's values after Dan Cathy said last week that he personally believed that marriage was between a man and a woman. On the other hand, Emanuel is welcoming Louis Farrakahn and his gang of thugs with open arms after Calypso Louie has said some of the most vile and disgusting things about Jews and Israel. :suspicious: :dunce:

Help me out here, Donks....WTF???? :loko:
