Possible yes, probable not. Think of the extremely brief micro-second that there would be a spark generated, only a flammable vapor could catch that spark, not some dry grass nearby. Leaking propane tank nearby, freshly poured gasoline on a rock, yeah, dead sage bush, no..

Depends on what the military uses. You can load an entire mag of tracers if you are so inclined.

I believe you and Wedgie but I'm curious - could standard ordinance create a spark if it ricocheted off a hard surface (concrete, steel, another metal) at the right angle? I'm sure the odds of this happening are much less than a hundred other things that could cause a fire but I wonder if it is possible.

I mean that somebody could start a fire with a gun if they were for some reason shooting tracers.
