Why does this nonsense warrant tax exemption?

Because 99.9% of our lawmakers are religious.

Trillions and trillions of dollars are wasted each year chasing ghosts. If all this money and time were invested in actually improving man, instead of paying tribute to ghosts and supporting the priest class, we be in so much better shape right now. Instead, we're perpetually at war, our environment has been destroyed and our world is overpopulated with no end in sight.

Time to grow up, shed religion and embrace a new belief system based on science and critical ethical inquiry.

Sounds suspiciously like a book I once read....Orwell would be so proud.
