And I honestly can't think of any overwhelmingly White neighborhoods I'd be concerned about being in. Like would i be concerned about being in some dirt poor White neighborhood in Appalachia? West Virginia? No way. I would not be concerned about the safety of myself or my family.
I'm not going to attempt to do it but I don't think there's any doubt that if one were to try to derive some index of the most dangerous places to be in the US in terms of being a victim of crime one would come up with a result showing that the most dangerous places are overwhelmingly Black areas. "Blackness" may not cause that. But the association is still there and if somebody is making decisions about risk the cause doesn't matter. You avoid those places.

Dude, you clearly haven't spent much time in Appalachia. I would much rather spend a week with a bunch of dirt poor Gullah, than an hour with a trailer park full of meth-head PWT.JohnStOnge wrote:No. Not just your family. A "critical mass." Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. All my Best, Earlie Cuyler.

You do have a point about the Gullah. I am familiar with them because I lived in coastal Georgia for a while and got to know a number of them. Good people. That's interesting to think about. But I don't think there are a whole lot of Gullah.Dude, you clearly haven't spent much time in Appalachia. I would much rather spend a week with a bunch of dirt poor Gullah, than an hour with a trailer park full of meth-head PWT.
And I was comparing Appalchia to certain areas of New Orleans and Baton Rouge. If you really think you'd be taking less risk in the areas I'm talking about than in any place you can find in Appalchian, be my guest.

Hey, Louisiana does have some of the most dangerous places to be crime wise. I'm not going to argue that.I break out in cold sweats every time I pass through Cajun territory. And you can't even ask for directions out, because the accents are incomprehensible. Give the Loozianna Purchase back to the Frogs.
But it's not because of the Cajuns.

Living just a stones throw from Sapelo Island and basically at the mouth of the Sapelo River and knowing dozens of Gullah (Geechee). I can attest that you will not find a more welcoming, friendlier, giving group of people anywhere.

Note to self: do not have JSO on speed dial when encountering mob of coon-ass ruffians in St. John the Baptist Parish.JohnStOnge wrote:Hey, Louisiana does have some of the most dangerous places to be crime wise.
