SNL and Obama?
Can anyone tell me why it is a big national news story that SNL made fun of Obama, while the show made fun of Bush and Cheney almost constantly and it was no big deal?

Is that really it? I mean, really? The news reporter stated all kinds of reasons as to the SNL skit was flawed and shouldn't have been done. Shouldn't it be, either everybody or no body?Col Hogan wrote:Two words...packerbacker wrote:Can anyone tell me why it is a big national news story that SNL made fun of Obama, while the show made fun of Bush and Cheney almost constantly and it was no big deal?

I see how they were poking fun at Obama, but weren't they all good points that he has so far failed at? If it is true, it isn't making fun, right?AZGrizFan wrote:Because he who makes fun of the king gets the guillotine.packerbacker wrote:Can anyone tell me why it is a big national news story that SNL made fun of Obama, while the show made fun of Bush and Cheney almost constantly and it was no big deal?![]()

Re: SNL and Obama?
I don't think it should be news.
Maybe it would be news if SNL was actually funny again.
But alas - its not.

It depends packer backer, If you didnt vote for Obama, you are correct bc its just making fun ... plenty of people felt the same way about Bush.. However, if you DID vote for Obama, & its been 11 months and you feel this way.. I think you should look up what happens after a Magic Negro's effects start to wear off.packerbacker wrote: I see how they were poking fun at Obama, but weren't they all good points that he has so far failed at? I didn't vote. It the choice is between a Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich, why vote? I hope he does a good job, but that isn't neither here nor there. I was mainly asking why THIS was such a big deal? Maybe it was just a slow news day.BlackFalkin wrote:It depends packer backer, If you didnt vote for Obama, you are correct bc its just making fun ... plenty of people felt the same way about Bush.. I did vote for Obama and laughed all the way to the bank with SNL skit about him. They have done it with every President, even Vice-Presidents. These naysayers need to get a grip.

Re: SNL and Obama?
Why? I'm assuming he still pays taxes...if he doesn't want to vote for giant douche or turd sandwich, then fine, don't vote...personally, I would vote third party to send message, but, as a tax-paying citizen, he has every right to complain about the performance of his government whether he voted or not...hank scorpio wrote:In that case, I would stay out of this forum all together.packerbacker wrote:

I don't think that is it, SNL made fun of Clinton all the time. I don't have an answer for packerbackers question, but I don't think it's a liberal thing. Maybe it's an indication that the Obama/media honeymoon is over.Col Hogan wrote:Two words...packerbacker wrote:Can anyone tell me why it is a big national news story that SNL made fun of Obama, while the show made fun of Bush and Cheney almost constantly and it was no big deal?

It's the negative reaction the skit has received that I was refering to...
SNL has been non-discriminatory in its ridicule of politicians...

Agreed. Not voting also sends a message, but I think the message is louder and more clearly delivered when you vote third party.Appaholic wrote:Why?
