Been to Dallas twice, found it to be an armpit both times.

Made one trip to San Antonio, and had a damn good time.

Attended the Texas A&M Industrial Fire School for a week, great education, lots of incredible blow hards running around College Station, was damn glad to get home.

Most "Texans" I know are not really Texans but from somewhere else or children of parents from somewhere else. My town of less than 500 population is no longer its own town and that place now has 155,000 population.
I'm a real Texan from a land and oil family.

People have moved in from many places. Euless Trinity high school speaks more than 40 languages. A lot of the schools that had 90% white people speaking 1 or 2 languages has changed. At times I visit high schools and find the 90% has changed to 30% in about 30 years. Opportunistic foreigners have come in to many places and own the businesses in towns where English was nearly exclusively spoken. You will have no problem doing business in many other languages. One of my homes is in a town where the hair salon speaks English, Vietnamese and French. Most restaurants speak Spanish, Italian, Farsi, Chinese and English. It goes on like that and those people are not really Texans.
I rarely see any persons like the ones I grew up knowing. It's all very different now. I have to go out to small towns to find those types of Texans.

I know quite a few Norwegians. Screw the ones uses texas as crazy.

Never been to Texas, thankfully I was unable to make the trip to Frisco for the first game there. With that said, there is something strange about a place that takes high school football as seriously and religiously as they do. But I did enjoy the "Friday Nights Light" tv show, I mean, we wouldn't have known about Minka Kelly otherwise...

I've only visited Texas once and it was Dallas. I remember my thoughts being:

-Everyone was super nice.
-Other than homes, everything was more expensive than DC, including gas. I still don't understand why.
-Any meat related food was awesome. Like some of the best I've ever had.
-Any non-meat related food was garbage. Like some of the worst I've ever had.
-Restaurants give way too much food; I don't think I ever finished a meal. It might be me, but Dallas did seem to have a lot of overweight and obese people.
-Everything is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo far apart. And every home looked exactly the same.
-Overall, it was a pretty bland city. Nice people, but nothing special.
