So the defending National Champions of FBS, Florida State, took on The Citadel. And in true Citadel fashion, they are now talking trash about the team that just beat them. For one, Florida State showed some mercy. They played all their backups, and basically went through a glorified scrimmage.

But The Citadel? Well, read the link, and look at the Citadel fans, and players, comments at the bottom. Saying FSU isn't that good (um...yeah, wake up. They have NC rings, and a Heisman, and took it easy on you), and one guy on there saying he was one of The Citadel O-linemen (Victor Hill?) bragging about how they'd make FSU respect them by trying to hurt their knees. CLASSY right?

Im sure The Citadel, being desperate to beat the defending CITY CHAMPIONS Charleston Southern, will break out all their dirty tactics trying to hurt players. But hey, at least this year none of their starters have committed any armed robberies/kidnapping/assault of their coaching staff like they did a few years ago, so their whole team will be playing. Even if one of their alumni was on this forum bragging about hooking up with high school girls.

Now The Citadel's coach is trying to reign in the damage, releasing a press statement saying Victor Hill's statement that they were trying to gain respect by hurting other players was not reflective of the entire team.

I feel bad for the coach. He left a great D2 program for The Citadel. He didn't know he was inheriting a fanbase and culture that was so delusional about where they THINK they should be on the pecking order of college football.

Guys....you hung in there in the 2nd half...with FSU's scout team. With your team, and its self-proclaimed dirty tactics, WHY would the #1 team in the nation allow their starters or 2nd teamers to keep playing in a meaningless scrimmage?

You realize FSU beat you by the same margin that Coastal did, right? No offense to Coastal (one of FCS's best teams)...but they aren't Florida State.

Reign in the delusion fellas. And when you come to Charleston Southern for your next game, leave behind the players who intend to try to purposely injure opposing players. Well, nevermind, because we'd like you to bring enough players to play the game.

They wont. They play Charleston Southern next. Its their reluctant rivalry. They 100% look down on CSU, and say shit like CSU is lucky Citadel even allows them on the schedule...and that is AFTER LOSING TO CSU.

They are desperate to beat CSU this year. Its why they scheduled a bye week before the game so they have 2 weeks to prepare. And they cover up more dirt over on that campus than one could believe.

So no, he'll be playing, and with his teammates, trying to hurt players to "get respect" as they call it.

You should be flattered. The majority of the FBS and FCS world just ignores you, just like CSU. At least someone is paying attention to you all. In fact, the reason most football fans don't know how delusional and arrogant Citadel fans are....is just because of how much the rest of the world outside of Charleston, SC, ignores you. Not us. We are right up I-26, and have beaten you 50% of the time since we moved to fully funded FCS status.

The difference is we know our place on the totem pole. You all still think you are Montana or Wofford or something. You aren't. Until proven otherwise, you are only the 3rd best team on the South Carolina coast, behind CSU and Coastal.

Of course, you all will talk the game like you should be mentioned alongside North Dakota State or Eastern Washington.

Because you Dog fans aren't used to having trash talked back at you. Your only real "rival" Furman has owned you so much, they have better teams to worry about. You know, teams who win conference titles.

In fact, this millennium, Citadel is the only college team in the state of SC to NOT win some version of a conference or division championship: USC won the SEC East. Clemson won the ACC and 2 division titles. Presbyterian won the SAC before leaving. Newberry won the SAC. SC State won the MEAC. Coastal has pretty much dominated the Big South. Wofford and Furman have each won the SoCon. Charleston Southern won the Big South. Bummer dude

Oh, and normally calling me "sweetheart" wouldn't matter. But with the Citadel's history of shady male-on-male controversy...please refrain. We don't get down like that in the rest of the Charleston metro area.

Please link to specific quotes where Citadel fans talked trash about losing to the #1 FBS team by a respectable 37-12 margin (especially considering Jameis and most if not all of the other first teamers were in the game until late 3rd quarter). Plus they scored two touchdowns. I seriously doubt Chuck South will put up a point against Georgia.

P.S. Jimbo Fisher even said all of those blocks were clean, legal football plays. So you have nothing to gripe about.

Last time we did that was for SC State. They have MEAC chamionship rings this millennium. We probably should have done it for Coastal last year. Their fans deserved proper seating on their way to yet another Big South title.

But Citadel? Sorry. We dont make special accomodations for teams whose last championship ring is old enough to buy beer now.
