Let me take a moment now AZGrizFan,

Gray got sacked 4 times. Gray had 13 rushes for 49 yds. NDSUs top running back had 100 yds.
NDSU had 197 yds rushing UofM 124
UofM had 29 more yds rushing but 1 less rushing TD than NDSU

Just in the last 5 years Minnesota has lost to NDSU twice and narrowly escaped a 3rd loss, got destroyed by USD, and nearly lost to SDSU.

The Dakota Big 3 are making a statement, led by the NDSU BISON of course:
http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/335168/group/Sports/ wrote:The Gophers trailed 21-14 with five seconds remaining in the first half and had the ball at midfield. Minnesota faced a fourth down-and-8 with five seconds remaining in the half and set up for a “Hail Mary” attempt. Gray dropped back and then heaved the ball downfield.

Heagle picked off the deep pass attempt at the 18-yard line. He then picked his way up the sideline and returned the ball 30 yards before he ran into some would-be Minnesota tacklers.

“I saw Marcus and he was yelling ‘Pitch’ so I just threw it,” Heagle said. “In a game like this, you can’t hold anything back.”

Williams said he wanted the ball once he saw that Heagle was going to get tackled.

“I’m yelling ‘Pitch, pitch, pitch’ and he threw it back,” Williams said. “It was just a heads up. I’ve never been in one of those. You see them on TV a lot. I’ve always said ‘I want to be part of one of those.”

The Gophers never recovered from the 14-point halftime cushion and never got closer than within seven points of the NDSU lead the rest of the way.

“The biggest thing about that is we were able to score and we had the ball first in the second half,” Heagle said. “As a momentum shift, that was huge.”

Way to go out and kick some FBS ass. Well done!

Keep the hammer down NDSU!

My Griz on the other hand showed how to lay down and get physically dominated in every aspect of the game.
Nice of you to think of us.

Minnesota Game Thoughts From Cap'n Cat.....
Went fishing with my youngest son, Lieutenant Cat, in northwestern Wisconsin and could not pull in the game in Clam Falls. Finished up there and headed back to River Falls, WI, where Grandma Cat lives. She had the game on and we watched the third and fourth quarters.

Attaboy Herd!!! Was lovely seeing Jerry Kill on the sidelines, blind as a bat and not knowing what the fvck was hitting him!

All hail the Herd!!!
Thanks Captain.

See you bozos for the UNI game!

Band alum here and it hurts me to say that I too couldn't help but think of the halftime shows as a microcosm of the game and the two schools' programs.

NDSU had the smaller band, but played a hip, modern set of songs and moved around the field well.

The U has a massive band the stands around on the field too much and plays silly little sets of songs resembling circus music. Oof.

But hey, as a Gopher fan, I can always drink to a better future for both Gopher football and the band....

It is very sad for the goofers. Honestly they should be 0-5 in that time span against Dakota schools. Proud of the Dakota schools reppin!!

NDSU dominanted right after they let up the first TD. they went on the 28-7 run to finish the half and didn't let up from there. A very impressive showing and FAR better than I expected. I knew we could win but I thought Gray would be way too much to handle.

From actually being there, I was more impressed with their freshman QB Shortell. I thought the offense had 2 dimensions with him in and it made our safeties drop back instead of crowding the box on Gray.

So, does it speak to the Dakota schools excellence or Minnesota's failures? Honest question....they can't seem to get out of their own way in recent years....

I caught the second half of the game, sounded VERY LOUD on televisión. Really a rollicking college football atmosphere. Gophers made there move to get within 7, but NDSU slammed the door shut on them. Great win for the bison. Should be a terrific matchup with northern iowa later on this season. Again congrats to the bison.

That is a great question and I've heard it asked before. I think it is a little of both. Certainly we all know that the U of M is no where close to where they were even 10 years ago with Maroney and M Barber III. They continue to recruit players that under achieve and are continually out coach. I have ultimate respect for coach Kill, but he was out coached on saturday.

The immergence of D1-AA football in the Dakotas has given football prospects from the area that don't get that scholarship from the goofers a chance at playing at the FCS level. So when we go and playing in Minneapolis, it gives these 30-some players an opportunity to prove that they were over looked by their states FBS school. And so far, the players from the Dakota schools have responded. This fact also goes for ND/SD kids being that there is no FBS school in the states. This is their chance to prove that they were over looked coming out of high school.

NDSU whooped thier @ss. aside from letting the game get close in the 4th, NDSU manhandled them. It was a sight to see, NDSU is a better program "RIGHT NOW"

NDSU should be FBS, with the way the fans travel 20,000+ easily, there was people everywhere, every single bar had Green, talk about a economic stimulus for Minnesota, wow!

NDSU should be FBS because of the way they play, these kids deserve more accolades than what they get in FCS, we will always be dragged down by the haters in the FCS/East coast bias, BLAH!

I haven't read this thread, won't read this thread after this post.

However, a BCS win is a BCS win - even against shitty BCS teams that wouldn't be top 25 FCS teams....and NDSU is good at those wins.

Outside of those two pick 6's (which were terrible plays on Minnesota both times) I thought the game was pretty poor to watch.

I wasn't impressed with NDSU's run defense. To Minnesota two running backs they surrendered 145 yards on 23 rushes...or a 6.3 yard per carry average...

McNorton is good...but until I see him have a good game against a stout run D like UNI I have *some* doubts...See the -40 yards rushing against UNI.

Lakes is absolutely dead-on here. The talk in th early afternoon pre game was how much athletic budget does NDSU need to go FBS. Of course the stadium issue has to be addressed too.

Lakes is a #1 BISON Fan and from what Ive seen from a lot of you your pettiness prevents you from seeing that. Most of the offensive language is coming from the folks here that practice personal attack when they have noting to respond with. Not an infrequent occasion!

One thing about the NDSU Gopher game, besides the fact the NDSU BISON won, is how The BISON made the best of every opportunity on both sides of the ball. Teams that move the ball but cant score, like UNI did against Iowa State, are not very physical teams. As the field shrinks so do their options and when it comes to the line play the good teams score TDs, the weak teams run up and down the field for nothing. A 10+ minute time of possession advantage and UNI still loses to ISU? Not the stuff of legend! 8-)

What are you Lakes' press secretary? He uses offensive language and threats when he is frustrated from being seen as a buffoon from the assanine posts he puts on here. As for NDSU going FBS. You beat last place teams in the Big 12 and the Big 10 and you think you are ready to take on the whole FBS...does Western Kentucky ring a bell? You guys can't beat Northern Iowa. You were 3-8 2 years ago. FBS is not St. Francis and Lafayette. Tell you what JBB if NDSU can beat Iowa...then I will admit you guys are ready for the FBS.

What I am seeing from you Darell is a very good example of why UND is no longer considered a member with the Dakota Big 3. Besides not playing in a conference remotely Dakota UND fans heep scorn on the Dakotas, their best teams, traditions and the Big 3. That is an overt example of the contempt UND has for the Dakotas and why they are not included any more.

Playing the Gophers in football, something I dont think any other North Dakota College team can do, is a great experience. I have some idea why you UND fans get so darn excited about playing them in teh hockies. Even though hockey is a minor sport by NCAA definition, it srue doesnt seem to matter to the kids up in Grand Forks. They sure have a great time, at least when they arent breaking skulls after the game or hiking across campus in the middle of the winter without shoes.

Now if UND fans would take a moment and consider how NDSU fans must feel. NDSU is competing and winning in the biggest college sport on the planet: football! The NDSU BISON are competiting ane winning against BCS squads that occupy the national spotlight, that are known from coast-to-coast. Just think how exciting it is for an NDSU fan to enter TCF stadium and see BISON fans there outnumber the biggest frozen four hockey game in history!

I can understand when you look at the UND football program, and I will acknowledge what the UND fans are saying: football is not the primary sport on campus at UND, and compare it to any member of the Dakota Big 3 including the reigning Dakota College Football Champions The NDSU BISON why you would express yourself in such a frustrated and unbecoming manner Darell.

Could I suggest that you just take pride at what is happening in Fargo and with the Dakota Big 3. Join the sports fans all accross the Dakota Territories that are cheering the BISON, Jacks and Coyotes on! I think you would be happier and you might even be able to enjoy the game more. :twocents:
