Either way, I'm not going to relent on my position that the Bush years was when the downward spiral started without something better than what I've got here so far.
The division of this nation was more severe than it is today
I know that was almost 50 years ago and easy to forget for some and not well rendered by our history books
Because we were so ashamed of ourselves as a Nation
But the hatred was so intense it was dangerous (very dangerous)
What we have today is a pissing match
What we had then was chaotic civil unrest and a severely destabilized citizenry
in 1967 in Oakland Police officers beat protesters with billy clubs
Gov. Ronald Reagan commended the officers for beating down any dissent
We had a National Draft (successfully avoided by the likes of Dick Cheney and Donald Trump)
The disdain for the draft was beyond anything we'll see today in America
Somehow the draft process excluded wealthy males of fighting age
and mysteriously randomly targeted the poor and middle class
