Btw, 'traitor' isn't necessarily bad. As we all agree, the traitors that founded the country are revered.
Sure they are revered, they weren't largely motivated by the idea of preserving slavery. Sure, they kept slavery, but they didn't part ways with England for that purpose. It would be about 50 years later by the time England banned slavery altogether so it had virtually nothing to do with the American Revolution.
I'm stating they are traitors because they too rebelled. At a base level, they weren't loyal to England and they fought against it.

The problem though is, except maybe for a few cases, none of this is as cut and dried as we like to make it. Lee was a slave owner but he joined the confederacy because Virginia did. As I mentioned on another board, if Virginia doesn't secede, the South now hates Lee and the north builds monuments to him. Didn't happen so it doesn't matter, but it isn't quite as easy as we like to make it out to be. There were all types of motivating factors.

I never said there weren't complications and other motivating factors. What I have said, and I continue to say, is that the Civil War never would've happened if not for slavery. Heck, most of the largest political dramas of the first 50 years of our country, in some ways, revolved around slavery. That war is never fought (i.e. the South never seceedes) if not for slavery, no matter what other motivating factors where out there.

No argument there, of course they were traitors. But they were traitors for a good cause, that's the difference.

Walmart pulls Confederate flag products while Amazon sees a 2300% sale increase. Reminds me of the NRA & gun debates I read hear a couple times per year.... :coffee: :coffee:

Amazon has pulled its confederate flag products. eBay, wal mart and Sears have banned the sales of the flag.

Slavery and it's aftermath has and will continue to be a problem for our country for generations to come. Removing a flag won't change that. Maybe it'll help the healing process.

I agree. There were certainly other issues. I don't see the South seceding if slavery was not an issue.

Yep, just saw that on Bloomberg, I guess they made enough sales for today. It'll be interesting to see if they fill all those orders...

Somehow I think all those shops on the boardwalk in OCMD this summer may still be selling them.

The "blank email" had words on it.........I also reprimanded them, for not allowing ammo and gun parts to be sold on their POS website. This has been coming for a long time there are many reasons to not use Amazon, like its head quartered in Washington.

When I shop anywhere online, I never give money to people selling goods in NY, MN, CA, NM, NH, VT, MS, CT, DE, or MI

Those fu*king commie liberals will never get a direct cent of my money.

The Citadel is removing the Confederate Naval Jack from the campus chapel. Have to be honest, I didn't even think that El Cid would consider removing their flags.

So, Mexicans (IN AMERICA) can proudly fly the Mexican flag and that's ok, but godforfuckingbid a Southerner wants to fly the confederate flag.

Big difference between flying the flag of the country you came from and flying the flag of a failed attempt to break from the USA. :coffee:
