Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
Good news for R's in Maryland... my polling place was completely empty. I went in to vote and there were 3 people voting and 10 volunteers.

Most Marylanders are on government assistance and vote during normal working hours for those who are employed.89Hen wrote:Good news for R's in Maryland... my polling place was completely empty. I went in to vote and there were 3 people voting and 10 volunteers.

I voted for the democrats.
"Yes" to exempting spouses of military members who lost their lives during active duty from paying property taxes.
"Yes" for a $100,000,000 bond for Fairfax County's transportation infrastructure.

How the hell is the Gillespie-Warner Senate race going to be close (Virginia)? If Gillespie (R) is within a few points of Warner, the Dems could be in for a longer day than expected. Warner should be winning this by double digits.

NoVA hasn't reported yet. I imagine a lot of ground is going to be made up there...and quickly.tribe_pride wrote:How the hell is the Gillespie-Warner Senate race going to be close (Virginia)? Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
Agreed. Only 16% is in and NoVA is always slow as anything to report but Gillespie is up 54% to 44% and the stations are calling to it too close to call. Warner will gain ground and likely take the lead. Warner should be winning at the end of the night by double digits but it looks like it will be much closer. Hell, Warner beat Gilmore 6 years ago by 21%.∞∞∞ wrote:NoVA hasn't reported yet. With 63% reported in VA:
Ed Gillespie (R) 50.57%
Mark Warner (D) 46.86%
Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Richmond, and Norfolk still have lots of precincts left...

That 63% is the banjo precincts. Warner will end up winning once the Nova vote is counted.∞∞∞ wrote:With 63% reported in VA:

With 74% reporting, Gillespie is up slightly further, 51.1-46.3. Warner is certainly sweating this one out (he's now projected to win by 2%), mainly because he's under performing in NoVA.93henfan wrote:That 63% is the banjo precincts. Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
Warner got 70% of the vote in Alexandria City and is doing relatively the same in Arlington and Fairfax Counties. Once they're all counted, Warner wins easily. Maybe closer then he thought, but he can thank Obama for that.∞∞∞ wrote:With 74% reporting, Gillespie is up slightly further, 51.1-46.3. BTW, there was an old Asian couple in front of me when I was submitting my ballot. The machine didn't accept the wife's ballot because she selected more than one candidate. It didn't accept the husband's because he didn't fill out anything. It was hilarious watching the election official try to keep a straight face.

In one of the most important votes of the day, pot legalization is winning 2 to 1 in DC. Gonna be some fun lunches for the 93henfan. Gonna have to keep a case of Cheetos under my desk.

Warner about to blow on by, as expected. Fairfax and Arlington have a ton of Warner votes still sitting unreported.∞∞∞ wrote:VA 84.55% reported:

Nobody is surprised about Warner winning this. The only surprise is that the race is going to be within 2% or so instead of 10+%.

Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
I understand that but the Warner name in Virginia (who had the Republican John Warner in an advertisement for him) is a strong name who should win big despite Obama.93henfan wrote:Obama.tribe_pride wrote:Nobody is surprised about Warner winning this. Apparently my wife, neighbors and one brother felt the same and wrote my name in wherever they could. HahaIbanez wrote:There wasn't anyone worth voting for outside of local elections so I wrote my name in.

Pollsters have proven recently that they don't understand Virginia. With all of Fairfax County in, Warner's now up 8000 votes. Can anyone foresee a recount happening?
