Army @ Yale
Just saw this on the schedule for this week. When was the last time a I-A played at a I-AA? I'm thinking it was Wyoming or Idaho @ Montana several years back?

We played Idaho in Missoula in 2003. That's the last time I know of.

Yale Bowl influence.

Re: Army @ Yale
South Florida played @ Charleston Southern in 98...think usf may have been 1-AA then, but that may be by FAR the largest stadium descrepancy bt away team to home (70,000 vs 4, 000)

Good lord, may as well be a track around the stadium. By the 20th row you're 100 yards from the field.CAA Flagship wrote:Yale Bowl influence.![]()

Unless you are sitting in one endzone and play is close to the other endzone, most seats are pretty good.

Between the move from Yankee Stadium and Giants Stadium, the Giants played their home games there. It wasn't much of a home advantage though. The Giants were 1-11 there.89Hen wrote:bulldog10jw wrote:

70,000+ capacity. All bench seating, but with seat backs.

My buddy, a huge Giants fan had season tickets the two years the Giants played their games at the Bowl. Guess which game was the only one he missed. That's right, the lone Giant win.CAA Flagship wrote:Between the move from Yankee Stadium and Giants Stadium, the Giants played their home games there. It wasn't much of a home advantage though. This game has been a decade in the making. Yale athletic director Tom Beckett was instrumental in making it happen. He contacted good friend and newly hired Army athletic director at the time, Kevin Anderson in 2004 about the possibility. Anderson was on board. Originally, a three-game series was scheduled. Yale was supposed to play at Army in 2010 and 2012, and then at Yale this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bowl. But because Army is a scholarship program and Yale is not, the Black Knights needed a waiver to remain Bowl eligible in the FBS. The NCAA did not award the waiver for the 2010 and 2012 games, so Army had to back out. This year’s game remained scheduled and Army was granted the waiver.

Yale wins a wild one, 49-43 in OT. Army missed a 42 yd FG attempt with 5 seconds left that would have given them a 46-43 win.

I wonder if Jeff Monken just takes field goal kicking for granted and doesn't practice it enough?BlueHen86 wrote:Yale wins a wild one, 49-43 in OT. Army missed a 42 yd FG attempt with 5 seconds left that would have given them a 46-43 win.
Our kicker from 2012 who couldn't seem to hit anything much farther away than a PAT is now kicking better than most FBS kickers.

I'm taking full credit for the win since I started a thread about Yale, maybe the first one ever at CS.
