If they do, all my prescriptions will be pulled from Walgreens. And I will support legislation that bans Medicare/Medicaid payments to non-US owned/HQ'd companies.

Better be careful, jon: Walgreens is a big supporter of gay marriage. Pull your prescriptions, and you'd be cutting off your shvance to spite your face.

Great idea, jon. :thumb:

And when Walgreens lowers it's prices to reflect the savings, you can spend more with their competitor.

Yeah, just look at how much Apple has lowered its prices to reflect the billions they've saved through tax avoidance! :dunce:

Nice try. Apple has been dodging US taxes with their holding company in Ireland since shortly after its founding. No one is going to buy a stand-alone iPod anymore unless they can get it on the cheap (by Apple standards).

I will ask the same question again and really would like to know what I am missing. Why do we want to give a foreign corp a competitive advantage with income taxes? Because otherwise, US corporations would have no reason to do this.

Just for the hell of it, I will ask the above question again. Mainly because I would like to know if there is actually an answer to it instead of simply calling the corporations unpatriotic. :?

I made the comment before Jon made his and then tried to bring it back with Jon's comment. I don't care if Jon doesn't want to shop at Walgreens. I do care as to why US corps are doing this. The only thing I can come up with is that they think it increases their competitive advantage to be a foreign company. So instead of continuing whatever policy incentivizes them to do this we should change the law so that foreign companies don't have that advantage. But as I said, if I am wrong I am all ears. Sincerely.

If US companies are becoming foreign companies in order to lower their US taxes, the conclusion seems to be that multi-national foreign companies who do business in the US must have a competitive advantage with respect to the US tax code. It seems to me that the easiest approach would be to eliminate that competitive advantage.

OK, where am I wrong?

First time I brought it up

Agree completely. But I'm guessing there's very little interest from
either party to do this.

You are probably correct, but I would hope, incorrectly, instead of shouting how un-patriotic these companies are some not so stupid politician somewhere might say, "Hey, here is how we fix this" instead of demagoguing the issue. Too much to hope for

Yeah, maybe next time you can provide some evidence that Apple all of a sudden decided to pass those tax savings onto their customers, despite not doing it for decades. :thumb:

You don't see Republicans vote against corporate tax cuts very often... :suspicious:
