Don't see one. Apologize if there is.
http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/car ... a_model_s/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not there yet from my standpoint but you can see potential if they can get the range up to maybe double what it is now and get the super charging stations established in thousands of convenient locations. It's becoming plausible.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

I was at a conference last week and we had a guy from Tesla as a speaker. Very interesting. They are building their own battery factory and plan to have it in operation by 2017. They are predicting it will lower battery costs by 30% which should help lower the car price dramatically. They also are coming out with a small SUV in 2017. They will also be selling batteries to homeowners, businesses, and electric utilities to store energy form wind and solar and to even out electric usage.

Expense is relative. How much do you spend in fuel each month? I spend about $400, so it makes a Tesla VERY affordable at that point.CID1990 wrote:I would get one if they werent so dang expensive

Move closer to work and put the $400 into your mortgage instead of into gasoline.
$4,800 per year gets you a new grill, a couple guns, and LOTs of that cheap beer you drink.

$400 is about what we spend too . I drive a Prius and my wife drives a Tahoe. I commute about 90 miles a day and my wife a bit over 25. No way would I move closer to work. That would mean moving to.........egad! Missoula!!!Cluck U wrote:

I probably spend more than most guys on this board because I live in the 3rd world where it is generally more expensiveAZGrizFan wrote:Expense is relative. How much do you spend in fuel each month? but then a Tesla would be a bad idea in Vietnam, El Salvador or Nigeria anyway

I think half of their sales must be within a 10 mile radius of me. I see dozens now every day. They are fantastic looking cars.

Hen, I heard if you suddenly jump in front of a Tesla going full speed, it stops instantaneously and wont hurt you.89Hen wrote:I think half of their sales must be within a 10 mile radius of me. I see dozens now every day. They are fantastic looking cars.
Give it a shot.

Jesus. I drive 65 miles a day, to and from work, but only spend at the most $200/mo. What are you driving?AZGrizFan wrote:Expense is relative. How much do you spend in fuel each month? Do you have any idea how much your electric bill will go up at your home, not to mention the gouging sodomy that will take place out on the road when you NEED to recharge?
Trust me, a motorcycle rear tire in my town costs $150, when I NEED one out on the road (Sturgis) it's $350 and I get to wait 5 hours to get one.

Uh...yeah.
Think again- only those countries with their own refineries (like Venezuela and Iraq) have cheap gas
It is $4.50 per gallon here in San Salvador and it was up around 5 bucks a gallon in Vietnam

Let's get a pool going on the race of the first person to kill somebody at a charging station because it's taking too long and they are in a hurry.

According to calculations, it takes about $2 worth of "power" to fully charge your car at home. That's the equivalent of about $50 in gas in my current mode of transportation.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:Really?AZGrizFan wrote:

31% of Montana's electricity comes from Hydro, mostly built by Federal Taxpayers. So yes, your electricity is a form of welfare.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:Who's calculations?AZGrizFan wrote:

Most, if not all, federal hydropower projects are being repaid with interest to the federal treasury through the rates for the power.dbackjon wrote:31% of Montana's electricity comes from Hydro, mostly built by Federal Taxpayers. So yes, your electricity is a form of welfare.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:

Tesla is also building a network of (free) solar powered charging stations. But don't let the facts get in your way, you seldom do.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:Really?AZGrizFan wrote:

They are not free you have to buy one of their cars to use them, if you have another brand of car they are not free and lets face it, Tesla wont keep them free forever, its just an incentive to get people to buy their cars.Grizalltheway wrote:Tesla is also building a network of (free) solar powered charging stations. How long before you guys start complaining about battery disposal and the added stress on an already maxed out national electrical grid?

Not that they're everywhere, but I see them almost daily around these parts. Beautiful cars.
I did see a Fisker Karma once and thought it looked amazing as well, but I think the company is on the verge of failure.
Anyways, congrats to Tesla. Amazing piece of American ingenuity.
