This has been a great ride with this group of seniors. In their four years so far at NDSU they are 47-7. They will go down as the best recruiting class ever at NDSU. The seniors in '86 were awesome but that was at D2. The underclassmen have some big shoes to fill the next few years.
USD will be coming in playing to upset the Bison. Joe Glenn has made some significant improvements in the Coyote program since he has taken over as coach. Last year was a tough one in Vermillion with the team going 0-8 in conference and 1-10 overall. This season's 4 wins is a decidedly big step forward for the program and a win over the Bison would build a ton of confidence for next year. USD was 4-3 with 3 straight home games in the DD but they fell on some back luck. Their games with Youngstown and Montana were potential wins but they did not make the plays in the end to win and the SDSU game had a few bad breaks. Injuries have now started to creep in on the line-up esp at RB. If the Coyotes are 1-dimensional on Saturday they have no chance. Their OLB Tyler Starr is a stud and will need to be accounted for by the Bison on every play, he is the Coyotes 'difference maker' on defense.
I suspect the Bison to keep it simple on Saturday. This has been a goal for the team since last year.....#1, to win the Valley title and then go undefeated. Coach Bohl will play to win and not rest the starters until the game is decided, however long that takes. The #1 seed is still in play. IMO, a loss knocks them behind EIU for the #1 spot.
The Bison will win this game on the line of scrimmage. The O-line, probably the best in the FCS, has been crushing defenses all year and I suspect that will continue Saturday. The D-line has also been a strength the whole season and I do not see a letdown on Saturday.
Bison win 38-6 and wrap up the #1 seed.
Teams that could beat the Bison this year have to be well-balanced on offense and play good defense. IMO, there are only 2 teams that could beat the Bison: EWU and Towson
GO BISON
