I'm really getting sick and tired of hearing this. It has been nothing but the Affordable Care Act on TV for over a month now. All I keep hearing is Obamacare is a disaster. What I never hear is...what the Republicans will replace it with.Obamacare is RELATIVELY unmanageable? Isn't that like being a little bit pregnant? It's an unmitigated disaster.
Also, even though Christie won NJ handily, he would still lose to Clinton (in NJ) if the election was held today.

It's enough that it's a disaster. Best thing that could have happened was having it implemented. Just like THIS.Seahawks08 wrote:I'm really getting sick and tired of hearing this. Getting quite the chuckle out of the new Christie fan club sounding VERY similar to the Obama hope and change fan club of a few years back.
They are both center-right POLITICIANS with different letters in front of their names. They are establishment/corporatists, cozy enough with WalL Street and champions of the status quo. If you're wringing your hands wondering why nothing gets done or how there's no voice for you...the reasonable moderate, then quit voting for EITHER party.
Neither deserves our vote. It's the system that's fucked.

Christie scares me. He appears to be a free-spending big government Republican and we need someone who is going to tighten the nation's belt and set us up for 20+ years of success not just a couple of years of entitlement heaven. Given the choice between him and Hillary I think they're just 2 sides of the same coin.kalm wrote:Getting quite the chuckle out of the new Christie fan club sounding VERY similar to the Obama hope and change fan club of a few years back.![]()

Re: Chizzang - Christie wins big in NJ
Christie took on the powerful Teacher's Union in NJ head on in an effort to tackle the fiscal reform that was needed in the State due to the economy. He also vetoed NJ's financing of a new tunnel to NYC in order for the planners to seek private funding, which they did. He has been a leader in tackling the financial issues that plagued the State. And when tragedy struck (Sandy) he did what he had to in order to get the federal financial help that NJ needed. He's a no nonsense guy that will only play politics to get votes. Once in office, he will take on the hard fiscal issues. Is he the best person for the job? I don't know. But this country can do far worse than Christie very easily.UNI88 wrote:AZGrizFan wrote:If I thought he was any different than the past 25 years of presidents I might vote for him. That's all very good and that is what has gotten him attention and support from outside NJ. My concern is that DC is very different. GWB had a reputation of being able to work with D's in Texas. He tried working with Ds on things like NCLB. But he found out that Ds in DC were an entirely different animal.CAA Flagship wrote:Christie took on the powerful Teacher's Union in NJ head on in an effort to tackle the fiscal reform that was needed in the State due to the economy. In my mind, unions, or at least the threat of unions, has created a bigger illegal immigration problem than we should be experiencing. Illegal immigrants will work for far less and won't unionize, thus becoming more attractive to employers.
I'm all for worker organizations to help negotiate compensation for groups, but it has gone way overboard where the leaders of these unions are doing more long-term harm than good.

So yes, you can make a point that union greed lost those manufacturing jobs but it also has to do with the greed of free trade. Or is greed only good as it applies to investors and management?
