BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Kameron Bryant was 27 of 33 for 381 yards with four total touchdowns, two passing and two rushing, to lead Appalachian State over Georgian Southern 38-14 on Saturday.
With the victory, the Mountaineers (2-6, 2-3 Southern Conference) ended a four-game skid and kept hope alive of avoiding their first losing season since 1993.
Marcus Cox led the Appalachian State running game 104 yards on 20 carries. Tony Washington had five catches for 129 yards while Andrew Peacock added 10 catches for 127 yards.
Georgia Southern (4-3, 2-3) scored the first points of the game on a 9-yard run by Jerick McKinnon.
McKinnon sprained his ankle in the second quarter while the score was tied. Kevin Ellison relieved him at quarterback and ran for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Appalachian State and Georgia Southern played their last game as Southern Conference rivals before they both join the Sun Belt next year.
GSU appears to be decimated physically.....it's an apathetic ASU win vs. a phsyically hurt GSU. It's hard to claim a winner. Hopefully the GSU guys had a good experience in Boone.
We did have a good time in Boone, although the outcome wasn't what we hoped for. The Appy fans that we talked to were generally polite and respectful, at least at our advanced age level. Beautiful location. Seemed to be lots of empty seats on the home side, although the student turnout was good. I'll tell you, the luxury log cabin rental is definitely the way to go!

Looks like just under 24K in attendance which isn't all that great for this matchup - in a good season we'd probably have closer to 30K. Glad you guys had a good time aside from the game.

Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. All my Best, Earlie Cuyler.
