Things I learned in Charleston this weekend

Post by ASUG8 »

* I love the town. Always have. 8-)
* Ben Dupree is a solid football player.
* Of the 13,600 in attendance, you'd be comfortable having 13,599 over for dinner. The one 50 yr old in the parking lot after the game chanting "Sun-belt...Sun-belt" put a slight dent in an otherwise good time.
* An ASU offensive line that is busy converting O2 into CO2 instead of blocking doesn't really allow a QB much time in the pocket.
* An 80 yr old Citadel gentleman taking a leak next to me after the game said "you should have exploited our secondary. We're young there and inexperienced." I asked him if he'd mind moving to Boone. :ohno:
* The Noisy Oyster has surprisingly good seafood. :thumb:
* The female bartending talent at Market St. Saloon was ridiculous
* A morning walk through St. Philip's cemetery is eerily cool. But the mosquitoes are still biting hard.
* ASU's current motto of "Always Attack" needs to be changed. If you can equate a game plan to politics, I'd say we're so conservative we're the Tea Party. :ohno:
* Despite painful losses on the WC(b) and the EC(b), being surrounded by good friends and family make it a lot more bearable.

Best of luck to the Cadets from here on out.

Market Street Salon is intense. I went to high school with a couple of the bar dancers.

App State, one thing I found quite interesting from our coaches show this week was that our head coach, Jamey Chadwell said that our Defensive Coordinator, while watching tape in preparation for you, figured out when your offense was going to pass and when it was going to run. He said that there is a tell, your offense is giving it away in something they do, when there is going to be a pass play. Interesting!

I'm a football idiot and I knew what we were going to do. Run up the middle the first two downs, go for a short yardage screen or pass across the middle and then punt. You would think a former QB/offensive coordinator turned head coach would have a better poker face, but apparently not so far. I'm hoping for the best, but so far the sea change we App folks expected hasn't materialized. :twocents:

When I went and stayed in Charleston this past May what I learned is that the prevalence of properly-filled short shorts is incredible. Just scenery for me as I'm a happily married old man but outstanding scenery nonetheless. As good a place for that sort of thing as I've ever seen.

I think the Sun Belt has a one game lead in the head to head series with the Southland now with Louisiana Lafayette blowing out Nicholls State earlier this year. But...funny thing...Sun Belt teams seem to play a lot more games against Nicholls State and Lamar than they do against teams like Sam Houston, McNeese, Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin. Wonder why that is.

I went to Charleston Southern and played ball there all 4 years.

And as you brought up, the "talent" in the Charleston area is RIDICULOUS!!!! As a moderate looking man, average by all means, let me just say since I came here in 1998 to CSU, I never left, and I've pulled more "upsets" out of my league than I can count. ALL guys here do. Its indescribable. The women are all hot, all single, all mostly friendly.

The 4 years I spent as a ball player at CSU, single, in the city of Charleston.....I'll never forget 'em! Coaches there wondered why guys didn't watch more film. Well......uh-hum....stroll downtown haha! 7 nights a week its like fish in a barrel.

I was at the CSU vs NGU game til half, then went to the Citadel/App game. Both were great games. I also learned something.

ITS GOD DAMN SUMMERTIME IN CHARLESTON TIL THANKSGIVING!!! CHRIST O MIGHTY IT WAS HOT!!!!

Unfortunately, guys (particularly fratty, preppie guys) in the Deep South love the short shorts too. :ohno:
