Tale of 2 halves.
1st half mostly JMU. UD had 3 redzone drives that resulted in missed FG, INT in endzone, and 1 TD.
2nd half mostly UD. JMU had 2 redzone drives that resulted in 1 of 2 on FG.

Play of the game. 3rd qtr JMU up 19-14, punting from their own 30, 51 yd punt to UD's 19. JMU false start, re punt, punt blocked, followed by JMU personal foul. UD ball 1st & 10 on JMU 15. 66 yd swing & 7 point swing as UD scores TD a few plays later.

Thought JMU offense was ok (obviously way better 1st half). Got over 400 yds, and only turned the ball over once, Birdsong's pick at the end, which was obviously an improvement from previous 4 games (trying to come up with something positive).

Thought JMU defense was ok. Held very good UD offense to 360 yds, and did get the 2 UD turnovers.

JMU's special teams not ok. Both teams missed FG, JMU also missed XP. With the punt block UD had the better special teams. I didn't think that would be the case after what had happened in the JSU/UD game, and JMU's special teams had been decent during the 1st 4 games.

Overall I thought JMU played decent, which wasn't quite good enough to beat a good UD team at their place.

Considering who JMU plays @ home and on the road, probably JMU's 3rd toughest game of the season after @ TU and @ Akron.

Shouldn't even have gone over to the JMU board. As I predicted, a lot of we suck, fire Mickey, blah, blah, blah. SOS after every loss.

I predicted at the beginning of the season UD and JMU would be 2 of 5 CAA playoff teams, and I still believe that.

Birdsong was 19-35, 292, 2 Tds, 1 INT, 16 carries for 22 yds (after 4 sacks)

Hurley was 20-31, 233, 2 TD, 2 INT, 6 carries for 48 yds (0 sacks).

Hurley probably had the better game of the 2. Besides the W, the rushing (avoiding the sacks and the 4th qtr run) were key. Only Birsongs 7th start as a true Soph. Stares down receivers too much, sometimes fails to see open 2nd-3rd receivers, sometimes holds on to the ball for too long (couple of those sacks were more on him than the JMU OL). He's coming along, but probably a season away from potentially becoming a really good QB.
